Oh and we even talked to a wonderful pet nutrionist and doctor that specializes in pancreatitis cases. She is also on 3 supplements as well. We can't get her on home cooked yet until we retest her in May and then we'll go from there. Most likely she will be on half home cooked and half Science Diet WD for the rest of her life..but at least she is alive and that's all that matters to me..I can't worry about what food she is on because when she was on the holistic freeze dried raw she still got it. We also think it might be the flaxseed that was in the all natural food as well. |

Thank you. We are still staying status quo for the night, and hopefully we will see an improvement in the numbers tomorrow. Hurricane is certainly fighting hard, and I feel optimistic after our visit to the vet a little while ago. I hope to report something better tomorrow. I appreciate the kind words, and am so happy that Izzy is better. I wrote the food info down, and I really, really hope that I'll be able to go buy it tomorrow for Hurricane! Thanks, again. |

umm well i never did here anything about breathing.. i never talked to the doctor she got better very quickly. i talked to several techs and they never told me anything diff then what i already knew |
Sorry to hear about your Hurricane. I would definitely recommend a consult with Susan Davis, the nutritionist that Marcerella02 and IzzyPrincess have both worked with as well as us and many others here. Most vets have very little or no training on nutrition and just sell you what their office sells. I highly recommend really getting Hurricane healthy with good food. Susan can be very helpful with this!!!!!! Hoping for really good news tomorrow! |
I am so sorry about Hurricane. Unfortunately, Yorkies are predisposed to pancreatitis. As the others have said, you will have to be very careful about Hurricane's diet when he comes home. You'll have to stress to your children how dangerous it is for Hurricane to have table scraps. Even one tiny piece of ham could cause another attack. Another concern is that repeated bouts of pancreatitis can led to diabetes which requires insulin shots twice a day for life. Here is a good article about pancreatitis: Pancreatitis (Inflammation) in Dogs |
Thank you. |
I am so sorry that Hurricane is so sick! I have never dealt with this, but wanted to give you some moral support! Please keep us posted!!!:aimeeyork Prayers & Hugs-Kay & Jaxon |

Pancreatitis now turning into more.... Hurricane is still in the hospital. I spent as much time with him today as they would allow. He is in congestive heart failure in addition to the pancreatitis. They are ruling out stomach cancer as the cause of all of this. I asked them to perform a heartworm evaluation, since I read that this can cause his breathing issues, as well as heart and digestive issues. He crashed so, so fast, that I am thinking that there is some underlying strange cause of all of this. Thanks again, for all of the prayers and support. We will hopefully have better news tomorrow. |
Oh my gosh I'm so so sorry! I hope Hurricane gets better very very soon! You, your family & Hurricane are in my prayers. |
