I don't have any advice, but just wanted to say Nikko went through the same thing the first several times he met the neighbor's dog (never had that problem with people though). (Inside Nikko's Brain): "OOooo! Dog! Dog! It's another Dog! Hello Dog! Must jump up, must wag tail, must bat as his face, oops I just peed a little but who cares, must try to bite his ear, must run around in circles, Dog!, now back to tail wagging and jumping..." and so on. After enough times of meeting the dog (and a couple other dogs by now), he's still just as excited but doesn't tend to leak anymore. Hopefully your dog will outgrow it... Lauren & Nikko |
I would like to hear of any techniques if anyone knows of any to stop this behavior I don't know of any myself I had a Lhasa many years ago who pee'd whenever someone knew came in the house or whenever he got excited |
There are some YT members that make really cute "panties" that will help with keeping piddle off the floor while you are in training......... (goFetch?) |
My Bella does the SAME thing. She is only 7 months, and I so hope that she grows out of this stage too. For example, today, after waking up, I heard my neighbor coming (I live in a apt. complex). So, I picked Bella up, thinking that she wouldn't be as excited when the neighbor came up to her. I was WRONG. She peed so much...all down my jacket. It was terrible! I know it's probably because she did not go out since last night, so she probably got so excited, and couldn't control on holding it anymore. But, she does pee around new people. If she meets them a couple of times, she stops the behavior, but I am definitely thinking about a behavioral trainer to see if that might stop it. I know she's still young, but the younger you start, the better. I hope you find a solution to your problem. I guess the diaper thing sounds good, but, having to use one of those every time someone comes over..hmmmm. Now, whenever I have any guests, I make sure that they greet her in the kitchen, or hallway, where there is tile, so its an easy clean up! Good luck! |
My dad's dog did this forever. After she was spayed, she got a lot better. |
