Ok. I'm pretty concerned now and Im not sure if I should be or not. Here is what's going on. I mentioned that zoe's vet didn't give me pain medicine. I took her back the next day and he gave her a 48 hr pain shot because she was shaking, etc. I've noticed that when she walks, she isn't walking right. She is having a hard time walking. Almost like she doesn't have control of her hind legs. Yesterday, I took her back to the vet and he said he gave her an anti inflammatory and put some medication on the incision. HE says the muscles in her abdomen, where they did the surgury, is what is causing her to walk that way. I don't know.. It's already been a few days. Shouldn't she be getting better.. She looks hunched over when she walks. She kind of jumps. I dont know. Her incision looks good. Not red or pusy. Is this normal? How did your baby act a few days after? |
I am sorry your little girl is having a hard time recovering from the surgery. I have never had one act that way and they did not get pain meds except for right after the surgery. Is she eating well? Is she having normal bowel movements and is her urine looking okay? My only advise is to make sure she is eating well and just try to keep her from jumping around to much. I pray she improves soon. |
I took her to the vet this morning (He is open sunday morinings) He wanted to stay with her over night to do x-rays and a blood count. He said I could either leave her over night OR bring her in the AM and pick her up in the afternoon tmrw. So i''m taking her in the afternoon. He gave her an anti inflammatory shot and antibiotic. I haven't read anything about other dogs not having control of their legs. I am trying to stay positive but I think it may be something with her nerves.. I'm hoping it's not but that's what it seems like. UGH. I feel horrible. :( I guess we will see what he says tmrw. She hasn't been eating all that well. He suggested I boil some rice and a little chicken (Unseasoned) She is peeing and pooping normal. :( I'm so worried.. |
How much does your little girl weigh? Did the vet do blood work before spaying her? I pray your little girl will be okay. I know you must be terribly worried about her. Please keep us posted on how she is doing. |
She weighs 4 pounds. No they didn't do any blood work before spaying her. I am worried sick.. Ugh. We will see what happens tmrw at the Vet. :( |
Good luck Hi, I just had my 6 mo old Yorkie Spayed on 1/30. She did great. They put the stitches under the skin. She has been wearing baby onesies and it's been working great. She slept with me the first two nights so I could make sure she would be okay, and she was. She didn't pee in her cage. She didn't poop until 1-1/2 days later but everything was fine. I made her chicken and rice to eat for the first two days and hand fed her so she would gulp it down so quickly. It is day four now and she's not up to playing tug-a-war yet, but all other playing is fine. The vet gave me antibotics and five sringes of pain meds (like ibprofen) and that has helped alot. She's not biting at her incision, at least not yet, but for all purposes, she's doing great and I'm sure your little gal will too. Good luck and keep me posted. Fingers Crossed for you I had no problems with Lucy - but had done full bloods beforehand. My vet keeps little dogs in overnight, so I picked her up the following day (no extra pain meds required). She was back to normal pretty much straightaway - although I had to watch to see she didn't do anything too strenuous. Her scar was brilliant and healed really quickly - she didn't lick or nibble it at all, so collars or onesies were unnecessary. Our prayers go out to you. |

PeanutAnn never walked funny. THey gave me amoxicillin to bring home and give her twice a day for 7 days and syringe of liquid pain meds for 5 days (1 left). She is back to normal eating and no problem eliminating. Her incision looks good, no redness or puffyness. If she's not walking right in another day or two, I'd take her back to the vet and have him explain why. Have them do an exray and see if something is wrong inside. I hope zoe feels better. I know how much you love her and don't want her hurting. Just cuddle her and let her know you are there for her. When Peanut woke up the first night at 3:00 am and noticed I was lying next to her, I got a total face shower. I was so excited she recognized me. Good luck and keep me posted.
