| My dog ate a pack of gum?? Hi folks, Newbie here with a question. I recently adopted a 2 year old male yorkie and the the family and I are still adjusting to having such a active and curious critter in our home. Well last night KC managed to get a pack of Orbit citrus gum off a TV tray my son had left in the living room. KC ate the box, wrappers and the gum. He has done his business twice today and no sign of the gum or wrappers. His behavior is normal is eating and pooping ok. Should I be worried? snow |

| If the gum contained the sweetener Xylitol, it can be fatal. Although if this happened last night, he is probably already over the concerned timeframe. To be on the safe side, I would call your vet and let them know.

| I was just going to say that. That is super scary and could be REALLY bad. But it sounds like he's ok, I would still check with the vet. I would be freaking out!! Glad your baby is ok.

| A small amount of xyliton can be fatal to a Yorkie. Although he seems fine, I would call the vet.

I ♥ Joey & Ralphie! Donating Member | From what I've read there is a sugarless variety and a regular variety. You need to take him to the vet if he has the sugarless variety.

| Just got back from the Vet. They did a blood test and his liver looks fine. All results were normal his sodiom levels are a little low but they stated that was nothing to be concerned about. Phew. Thank goodness for Yorkie Talk. And thank you folks. snow |

| Thank you everyone, Not really sure if it was the sugarless or not. KC ate the box and my son can not remember if it was sugarless or not. Better safe than sorry. One thing I am learning is that these guys have sneaking around down to a fine art form. Sometimes I think he is a reincarnated navy seal the way he slips and sneaks around the house. |

| They get into everything. I would definetly call the vet a call, and see what he suggests.
