Scratching ears and yelping? My girl yorkie scratches her ears and kind of yelps and groans sometimes. She actually does it every single time she scratches her ears. Is something wrong? ] I clean them out once a week and they are always dirty, but I think that is because she has too much hair in there and she is going to the groomers to get them cleaned up, but wondering if I should be concerned. |

you may be able to ask your vet for a culture if he doesn't suggest one. it can be so many things like fungus, mites, allergies, food allergies.... just to name a few and the vet is the best person to check it out for you . Good luck .... |
It sounds like something is bothering her. I'm glad you are taking her to the vet. |
I decided to clean out her ears and just see if what I was seeing was just dirt or whatever. There was a minimum amount since I cleaned them last week and it is only one ear that looks red and irritated so is it still an allergy of some sort? I started thinking about it and that is the ear that she scratches and groans. The other one is fine and doesn't look irritated at all. Nothing has changed as far as feeding or bathing.. I did run out of CC and bathed with groommax white shampoo that I had for a rescue maltese, but I only did that twice. I am just a little worried now since I want to take her tonight just so I won't obsess about it too much. |

Forgot to add that I did get something to clean out both of their ears and it Ortirinse ear cleansing/drying solution. I do that once a week when I bath them and I clean it out with q-tip since her ears are really small and then wipe the larger area with a cotton ball with a little solution on it. |

Most likely it's an ear mite or fungal infection in her ears and it will need to be treated with medication ... best to have the Vet take a look see |
She does need to see the vet but did they explain how to safety use qtips? |
I use the Cleansing solution also after I give Daisy a bath b/c she is prone to ear infections. However, I have never used the Qtips. My vet told me to use a kleenex and just wipe it out after I put the cleansing solution in. It sounds like your baby may have an ear infection. I would definitely be seeing the vet b/c they may prescribe some antibiotics. |

I don't mind not using the q-tips since kleenex ususally works fine with Hooks. I was thinking maybe she has had the infection all along and maybe that is the cause of the excessive dirty ears. Just kind of annoyed because I took her to the vet (I tried out a new one at the office) and she pretty told me she was healthy but didn't do anything that any of the other vets did when I brought in puppies.... I just thought it was me being too sensitive. |
