| OMG....my baby just ate his own POOP :( So i was at my friends house to get my yorkie (Donnie) to socialize with other dogs (my friend has a Pomeranian) when we got there they were just playing but then it was feeding time for Miko the Pomeranian and donnie ate his food.....the problem is that miko eats Caesars food which is moist and wet...while donnie eats only dry food.....so donnie had a feast with miko's food to the point were he ate most of it..... when we came back home it was time for bed and being that he had done his business before bed time i thought that was it for the night.....however....i was terribly wrong....donnie sleeps in his little bed in my room but i noticed that he was not in the room or his bed....i called him but he did not respond .... when i went to check on him he was taking his last bite of nothing else but POOP!!!!!! his own poop!!!! i couldn't stop him....i was too late.... he has never done this!!!!!! i wont lie it did disgust me but i love him ........since i came in late i knew i was too late to correct him.....and he has never done this before....i blame the new food he ate.....i think he might have thought his poop was just another portion of Caesars food cus this time it was extra moist i don't know what to do???? will he be alright?????? should i brush his teeth??? i have never done that...i always just give him greenies which do a great job at cleaning his teeth should i just give him that???? omg what if he liked eating his poop......what should i do?????? |

| Don't worry about your little pup eating his own poop ..... many do. Just watch and make sure it doesn't become habit 'cuz, from what I understand, if they habitually eat their own poop its an indication there is something missing from their diet. HOWEVER, please be very, very careful giving your puppy GREENIES as I understand that there are still problems with them and they should not be used. Go into search, at the top of the page, type in *greenies* and you will come up with information on the subject. There are much more healty treats/teeth cleaning snacks out there for your puppy. |

| I have heard also that it sometimes means there is something lacking in there diet. But I was also told that some dogs just do that... I always try to clean up poop right after because of sanitary issues and I have a puppy who sometimes eats poop and it just makes me sick!!! I would guess it was from the new food.... |

| I've seen quite a few people on the forum suggesting giving pineapple. Good luck.

Yorkie Yakker | I just got a 1.5 year old poop eating yorkie, I've had him for a week already. Alot of people suggested the pineapple... I changed his diet from SD to NB duck & potato and got pineapple chunks(can/syrup kind) and just give him about 2 chunks with every meal.... Haven't seen Cooper Pooper eat his pooper since Saturday! |
