Who knows what can happen when you go under surgery. I lost a cat before him that went under, whom I had no choice but to put to sleep. | If you opt to have pre-op bloodwork done, which everyone really ought to, it makes going under MUCH safer! (Both of my cats were spayed and front de-clawed at the same time when they were 3 or 4 mo. old, and I didn't even know that was an option, but with Bella they asked! Maybe because small breed dogs have a higher chance of having several different medical conditions???) It's my understanding that the majority of pets who die while under anesthesia have some undiagnosed problem that the bloodwork would pick up on before they are put under. If you choose to leave the few double teeth rather than having them extracted, watch those teeth VERY closely and brush, brush, brush! Just like with our teeth, one day everything is fine and then next you can wake up with excrutiating pain, swelling, etc... Those extra teeth are a recipe for disaster IMO, but if you take good care of them, perhaps they will be okay for quite awhile. |
