Otherwise, everything you said is 100% true. The small ones recovery very well, even having both legs done at the same time. I would just make sure they do indeed do the cut/pin method....

I can say that 'after' the healing time was over, my Roxy became a brand new girl...BUT...she also was dealing with a Grade 3 and Grade 2 :rolleyes:

Puppy Knee Problem
 
I am in the process of buying a 4 month old yorkie that has grade two knees problems in both knees. The vet said the puppy would possibly need expensive surgery in the near future. I am not totally attached to the pup yet. Should i buy the puppy and are these operations successful?

Can't really say - you have to decide that. "IF" surgery is needed, yes it could be $1000 to $3000 (depending on your area). BUT - surgery is usually sucessful, small breeds do very well.

Grade 2 is still low grade LP and it could stay Grade 2 forever and he may have no issues at all.

Some dogs progress to Grade 3 and 4 over their lifetime, or it could happen rapidly...

Each dog is different....

Cosiquin is a GREAT daily supplement for this type of joint issue :thumbup:

Looking for specialist recommendations
 
My dog (not a yorkie, but a pomeranian mix) has just been diagnosed with LP. We received a referral to an ortho specialist at SouthPaws in Fairfax. They charge $100 for the initial visit, plus $200-400 for x-rays (per leg). We're a bit concerned about the surgery costs there, so we're looking for recommendations for (or against!) other specialists in the area.

Can anyone give us a good recommendation? We'd appreciate all advice on doctors you've seen - positive and negative.

My advice is definitly have a Board Cert. Ortho Surgeon do the surgery. They have the experience and skill needed :thumbup:
