(5 & 6 star foods are best, in my opinion.)

we feed a rotation diet..
the girls primarily eat:
-Nature's Variety.. RAW medallions & instinct canned.
-Ziwi Peak.

we leave kibble out all day (incase they do get hungry & with Gemma's size.. i want it available to them) but they primarily eat what i listed above.
the kibble we feed is nature's variety innova evo.

When I have searched online about "Royal Cainine", I don't recall any threads about itching and allergies. It was just info on the food. What causes the itching, the grains in it~? I know that there is a higher quality of food that "Feeder Supply" & "Petsmart" carries that is grain-free, I believe. I tried it, but Maxwell didn't like that and hardly ate it. That was Merrick's. He's was on a lower quality of food too, Diamond & Professional from "Feeder Supply" and didn't like that after a while. I even had him on Beneful and I could go on and on. I am grateful he is eating this brand he's on now, because before he literally would go all day without eating.

I'm not sure - I don't feed it so I don't know for sure but from what I understand, it is the grains and corn content that cause the itching. Corn is the number one irritant in food for dogs.

Like I've said over and over, lots of people feed it and have no problems. If it works for you, great. All dogs are different and it's about finding what works best for you. The OP asked for opinions about food and I gave mine, that's all. I prefer to feed food that is grain-free, and especially corn free. I like the protein source to the first two or so ingredients on the list and we do not feed anything with animal by-products.

I just read the ingredients and the 5th one is "corn gluten meal"~! I have read the ingredients before tho. I picked this since it is specific for each breed and for picky eaters. I just got another bag last night at Petsmart too. I really don't want to switch foods again. Really, he hadn't ate much of it today...nibbled on it. He eats mostly at night...not including his treats. Now you have me thinking about switching again. Oh Great~!

Some of the RC formulas don't have corn or very little.
I am wondering if these are the kinds that don't seem to be bothering the Yorkies. I just suggest avoiding it all unless there is a medical issue where it is needed because it has not-so-good ingredients that do make lots of Yorkies itchy.

i've known a few people who have had this problem in the past (with Royal Canin & other foods, as well) ..but once they researched their food and switched, it changed everything! :thumbup:

grains are known to cause allergies with some.
Corn, Soy, & Wheat are 3 of the main causes of allergies in dogs(as far as food goes)... if you do a search online, you will find a ton of info on it.. just google corn in dog food, etc.

Everyone is different.. but please always check the ingredients on your dog food & know what you are feeding your lil ones and why :)

I think :rolleyes: the best is Life's Abundance by HeathyPetNet. It is formulated by a Holistic Vet Dr. Jane Bicks who has made food formulation her life's work. The food is nurtionally sound and doesn't have any coorn, wheat or glutin in it. She just came out with a wet food to complement the dry food. Both of my dogs love it and the healthy treats also. They give a :animal-pa:animal-pa:animal-pa:animal-pa
