Veggies!! I'm really interested in feeding Sassy & Lola some Veggies for a little snack. What are some good veggies to give them that will not make them sick? I havent tried any yet because I've always been worried I will hurt they're Tummys. Does anyone feed they're Dogs Veggies? If so, which ones are okay to give them? Thankyou! :D |
Carrots are good to give them! If you get those lil baby carrots just rinse them off with water like you would if you were to eat them and then give it your furbaby! :) As with anything...dont give too much. I would think a carrot a day would be fine! :) |
I mix chopped carrots or spinich or green beans in Ted's food. But for a snack I cut up 1/2 an apple really small chunks and hand feed it between him and Wallace one piece at a time. They LOVE IT..and you must have complete silence so you can hear him chomp. They look forward to apple nights a few nights a week. Have fun. |
My Bella loves carrots, raw and brocolli, raw or cooked.tomatoes are her favorite. And they all seem to agree with her.I only give them to her like every couple of weeks. She likes cooked green beans but they do not agree with her little belly, she gets sick when she eats them so that's now a No No. |
Lettuce Cooked green beans Bell peppers Cooked squash Cooked cauliflower and broccoli Vegetables are more digestable if they are pulverized or cooked. |
Mine love fruits and veggies - their favorites are apples, green beans and carrots. I have to be careful with those baby carrots cause my littlest guy will swallow them whole and they come out the same way:eek: |
The only veggie I've tried so far is baby carrots, and Nikko LOVES them. Whole ones he devours like a chew stick, whittling it down - omg, I'm so happy he doesn't swallow them whole! If I just give him little pieces he just picks up with his mouth, tosses down a few feet away, then pounces on them, then repeats the whole process at least a half dozen more times before maybe actually eating the carrot piece. I haven't tried any other veggies besides baby carrots. Once I've given him a carrot he devours every piece! |

Carrots go come out of Baxter in the same form they go in. He doesn't digest them at all. He was trying to get an apple out of the bag of fruit that I had on the floor last night so I will try cutting some up for him. He has a very sensitive stomach so he won't get much the first time. |

I know this isnt as good as fresh veggies but at petco they have these things called petgtables and I bought them and Callie loves them sooooo much so when she cant have any fresh veggies I will give her on of those. |
I've heard not to feed them cauliflower or broccoli because it can cause kidney stones, or something not nice internally I feed teddy carrots all the time! |
I myself love celery and have tried feeding it to my pal several times. He's never been into it -- if I mix it up in his food, he pushes all the pieces out of his bowl with his nose. He does like carrots in moderation, and he makes the most darling little chewing noises. I agree with the other posters, you might want to try really small pieces, or cooked carrot to ensure maximum digestion. |
I fed Duke a cooked carrot for the first time last week:p he kept staring at me when I was eating stew my mom made and I hate cooked carrots so I gave it to him and he loved it. He also likes snatching strawberries from my parents garden  as my dad pics them he tries stealing them. |
I mix in steamed peas and carrots in my baby's food at meal times. |

Tomatoes and tomato plants. These contain atropine, which can cause dilated pupils, tremors, and heart arrhythmias. The highest concentration of atropine is found in the leaves and stems of tomato plants, followed by unripe (green) tomatoes, followed by ripe tomatoes. So if you have the good fortune to have a tomato plant or two on your stoop, be sure your dog doesn’t nibble on it, and it’s safest not to feed him tomatoes either. Most veggies are okay. Carrots, green beans, peas... DO NOT give tomatoes or onions. Read this and it will tell you the most common foods that are toxic to dogs. http://www.yorkietalk.com/forums/yor...oods-dogs.html |

Thankyou guys for the great Advice & Responses to my post !!!! :D |
Oh No I really hope cauliflower and broccoli are not bad for Yorkies. Bella loves both plus spinach and peas. I can't get her to eat apples or carrots or strawberries, but I keep trying, thinking one day she might try them.:aimeeyork |
KiKi loves carrots and her favorite is watermelon!!!! I don't give it to her everyday though..maybe once a week and only 1 baby carrot or a 1" cube of watermelon..cut up into tiny squares...when she hears me cutting up the watermelon she will whine so loud....LOL....it's cute!! |
oh no!! Bowie loves tomatoes and musrooms! I will stop giving them to him for now on. How about avacados??? |

I gave Bailey 2 small pieces of raw sweet potato today and he loved it. Is that ok? I was afraid to give him more until I found out for sure. |

I think cooked is much safer and cooked white or sweet potato is a good snack. :) The "disease" that makes potato skins green is not good for them and I just err on the side of caution and cook all potatoes... |
The other day I froze a baby carrot, and Nikko really enjoyed it for about five minutes of fierce chewing, then it started to thaw and get soggy (you know how foods change when you freeze them sometimes), then he lost interest. But while the frozen-ness lasted, it was fun! Lauren & Nikko |
