I am going through the same thing Pepe is scheduled for Saturday and I swear I keep having anxiety attscks...He had bouts of gardia and I thought I was going to lose him...now he is 9 months old and I know I can't keep putting it off....Its nerve racking though. |
Hello, I know exactly how you feel! I kept putting Daisy's spay off b/c she was so small (3.5lbs.). She came into heat at 10 months and after that I thought it would be best if I had her spayed even though I didn't want to. I had her spayed almost 3 weeks ago now and she is back to her playful normal self. She did have a rough first 4 days, but after that she was back to normal. Just make sure the vet gives her pain meds b/c she may need them. She will do fine and you will be glad you had it done once it is over with!!! Good luck & you will be in my thoughts & prayers!! |
Just checking in for an update! |
Hoping your baby is home resting with you |
Hi Nicki just checking in to see how DeDe is. They sure do worry us, don't they? I'm a wreck just stepping foot into the vets with one of mine, its crazy! Do you still have your other little one? I'm drawing a blank right now but I think I remember a little tiny girl you had...or is this the same one??? I think others were being a little ruff with her? I'm sure your pampering your baby right now :) |
Dede Prince and I hope Dede is ok. Try to rest when she does. Take care, Prince's mom |
thinking of you.... First let me say that I know just how you feel. And hopefully you will find some comfort in our story! My little Chloe was sick from the day we brought her home. She had a virus that went into pnuemonia and then she began havng a irregular heart rate. We even had her in doggy intensive care. She was so tiny and we had to watch her blood sugars, hand feed her with a eye dropper etc. There were days that all I did was set and rock her, fearing that each breathe might be her last. We had repeated trips to the vet with all kinds of tests but they could never give us an exact reason why. Either my husband or myself held her most of the time and we watched over her for weeks. It took months but she finally came around and she now weighs 3 pounds and is the sweetest little thing. And somehow she has managed to work her way into a place in our hearts that is very special. Not that we make a difference between our babies but there is just something different when you go through this with one. Perhaps it is because she needed us so much more. She is now 8 months old and she was spayed 2 weeks ago. She recovered just fine. Our vet was not concerned and but we were terrifed, and eveything turned out okay. And I know that your little will be fine too. My thoughts and prayers are with you- |
I'm starting to get worried, please post and let us know everything went well today |
Hi everyone, sooo sorry it has taken me forever to update. Chloe (DeDe's mom) is having a harder time than DeDe. She won't even drink water and she was in a lot of pain when we got them. I had to go to my mom (and sisters) house to take care of her for awhile, she is doing a little better now but she is just weak and resting...still can't get her to drink yet but I think she will in a few hours after her pain meds kick in again and she has a chance to rest. DeDe was very alert when we got them, her eyes were bright...she wasn't happy though. I'm assuming they gave her quite a bit less anesthetic than Chloe, so that's why she snapped out of it quicker. She has been drinking water, but she can't keep it down very well. I just gave her more pain meds so hopefully in a little while I can get her to keep some fluids down and then hopefully get a little bit of chicken and rice into her system. I'm not going to push it though until tomorrow. She is such a picky eater, I know I'm going to have to hand feed her anyways. She is sitting on my lap right now, her incision looks great...it looks like it was glued instead of stitched. Her mouth is a little sore (she got 5 babies pulled) but she is very awake and she's giving me kisses. She is shaking a lot, but I assume that's a side effect of the anesthesia...and not being about to keep things down is probably too...it makes them have a little nausea, doesn't it? Hopefully it will completely wear off soon...but I think she is doing really well so far. I am just so so thankful that I have my little baby with me tonight and she's alive and well. Thank you truly everyone for the thoughts and prayers, they were all much appreciated during the scary day. We just ordered some new clothes from Auntie Des for Christmas...because I think DeDe deserves them for sure...;):D I will get a few pics later when she is feeling better. THanks again to everyone!! |

3 Attachment(s) As promised here are a few pictures...and I am SOOO proud of my baby...I fixed her up her plate of NV raw and she ate the WHOLE thing!! :D So I think it's safe to say she's doing much better!!! Anyways, here she is just resting on my lap, and her little incision which I think looks really good. I can never keep weight on this munchkin...she eats the raw and gets 3 medallions per day, which is more than they recommend for her weight on the site. She also gets a little bit of cheese every day...;) and a few snacks in between. I think she is just growing too fast...she's getting long and tall. She was a chubby younger puppy, but she just slimmed out in the past couple months. She is SOOO active though...always running around the house like crazy and playing with her brothers and sisters...she is my little nut! I hope this spay will help her put on a little weight too. I have never had a baby that I had this much trouble fattening up!! |
How is she doing today???? :aimeeyork |

Aw Nicki! I am soooooo glad to hear that the girls are home and doing well!! Her belly looks GREAT!! I know she will feel even better tomorrow. Just keep her from licking her incision. Give her some tender smooches from me and my girls!! XOXOXOX |
I just now seen this glad that everything went well:animal-pa |
Just seeing your thread again. So happy to see that everything went great and that you are spoiling them rotten. These little brats have a way of doing that. Delilah is a real kisser too. I love it and would not have it any other way. |
Great to hear that DeDe and Chloe are doing good! How are they doing now? Probably back to themselves already I'm sure! Take care! :) |
Hi Nicky! Sorry i didnt see this thread until now...just read it and I am sure glad that it is all over and the girls are doing well! I can feel your relief!!:D |
I know how you feel.... I know exactly how you feel. My Daisy Mae is getting spayed on Tuesday. She is 5 months and my friend is my vet and she will be doing the surgery. Even tho I know my friend Rachel is very good, I am still freaking out. After reading your heartfelt post, I am sitting here crying and am worried now too! :( I don't know what I would do if she didn't come home :aimeeyork I will not be fun to live with for a while. I will keep you both in my prayers Monday. :animal-pa |

Thanks everyone...yep DeDe and her mommy Chloe are both doing wonderful! I wrapped their Christmas presents today and DeDe was nosy...sticking her head in the box and trying to get her toys...lol...she is definitely back to her old self and I am so fortunate that this is over with and I will have my baby with me on Christmas (and my sister will have hers too)! :D |
Sasha jsut had hers a week ago. The hardest part for me was getting up that morning because i knew that i was going to have to leave her. But they will monitor everything like they would for a human. I called to check on her and make sure she was ok so that might ease it. Maybe give them a hour and a half and call. That was the longest hour of my life!!!! But once they said she jsut got out and is resting i felt this big relief. I know its difficult Sasha is my other half my best friend my reason for happiness i dont know what i would do with out her. But you trust your vet and he knows what the two of you have been through so im sure he will do everything he can God bless and hope to hear from you soon. P.S. Sasha was up playing the next night even though she wasnt supposed to lol just try not to let her lick it |

NO:eek: you are not being paranoid. I was the same way with my Mia. It is very scary!!! Say a prayer even if you don't usually do it. I was sooooo worried I told my vet Mia couldn't stay the night at the vet when they did the surgery. I dropped her off really early and picked her up at about 7pm. I didn't want her to be alone or to think I left her forever. My vet is a big place and when my husband and I walked in at 7 pm to pick her up, I whistled my special whistle she knows and Mia heard me. Mia started barking like crazy and whimpering. I was sooooo happy to hear she was loud and awake!!! Just remember that the sooner they are spayed and neutered, the longer they live. Thats what my vet told me anyways. You just have to keep that in mind ;) |
