| 2 Fleas, now what? Hi all! I know there are a ton of threads about fleas but I'm having a hard time finding one where the dog only had a few fleas found. Also let it be known that I've NEVER had a dog that EVER got a flea on it before so I'm not only freaking out I also don't know what to do! Anyway, here's what happened: Zoe got a half a dose of the small dog Frontline Plus on November 13th. We took her to the dog park some time after that (no noticeable fleas). Over Thanksgiving Zoe came with us and also visited my boyfriend's house. His house is out in the woods and his dog ALWAYS has fleas. (That's why I used Frontline this time, just to be sure.) I didn't want to take her there but I was a good doobie and she met her "grandparents" and I was freaking out about fleas the entire time. She normally scratches every once in a while so I didn't notice anything unusual the entire trip. Fast forward to yesterday morning and I saw a little bug crawling on her sweater! My first thought was fleas but since I'd never seen one in person I wasn't sure. To be safe I gave her bath (figuring it'd kill any on her if there were any and I'd see them too). Well I found ANOTHER of the same little bug on her head! I figured they had to be fleas! Okay, so this is what I think may have happened: (A) These are bug but not fleas???, (B) The frontline DID NOT work and she got fleas even though I'd given it to her two weeks prior, (C) The frontline worked and these were fleas that got tracked in on clothing? and the fleas were running away/getting killed, (D) I have no idea what happened!! I've been checking her like crazy and no matter how much she's scratching (which is freaking me out because she normally scratches and while she's scratched a bit more enthusiastically I don't know if it's abnormal or not) I can't find any more fleas! (Though I guess there still must be some) I plan on washing everything that I can, just for good measure. But my house is all tile, except carpet on the stairs, and my microfiber couches. And if this isn't bad enough we're leaving town for 3+ weeks Monday! So this flea situation has to be in check by then! (At least on her, I guess we can fumigate the house if it's not resolved in here by then.) Ugh!!!! -Vicky and winy Zoe What do I do? |

| I feel for you! We battled with fleas on Fiona for a month and a half .....we did everything from spraying her with 50% white vinegar with 50% water in a spray bottle, bathing her in the diluted dawn soap, baby shampoo, bathing her in flea/tick shampoo, frontline plus didnt help her since she was an easy target....i had to literally vaccuum all the time, clean her bedding daily, put borax on the carpets, got a flea spray...had to go to the vet to get capstar which is a pill and it seemed to do the trick, well last night, she had a huge matt on her butt, and i found A FLEA and some flea dirt, adn im like FREAKING Out...i think its a fluke thing, but she didnt have any dirt anywhere else on her or other fleas, and is not scratching, so i'm gonna start the process all over again when i leave work in 30 min....good luck!
