My parents' yorkie takes Rimadyl for arthritis. It makes her feel MUCH better. She's doing well on it. |
Thanks to everyone... I will request the pre op blood work when we get to the office. There's no way they can do a bile acid test today though. They may make me come back another day and not do the spay if I request it at this point. I should have done this before now. I'll let you all know how she does. |

Abby has NOT had a BAT, but they are doing pre op blood work on her, I signed for them to do it before the spay when I dropped her off. Whew! I was afraid they wouldn't spay her if I requested it be done today, but I worried about it for nothing. I also discussed at length with them about the Rimadyl and they assured me that if there was a problem, they would know before I picked her up because they are giving her a shot of it after her spay. They said long term it can be bad, but not for all dogs. They will send her home with 4 day of pain meds...I hope she won't need anymore than 1 or 2 days and I will not give her more than I think she needs. I'm just relieved that they are doing the blood work and they will call if there's a problem. One thing that concerned me was I asked if they could tell if she were in heat. I told them I had seen no signs of it at all. She looked at Abby and said it was questionable. She said she looked swollen. I told them that's the way she's always looked. So I wonder?? Anyway, she's there now. It was pitiful. Abby was shaking and wimpering :( When the lady took her from me, Abby was fighting to get back to me. It was so hard to leave. I kissed her and told her I'd be back in a little bit. I left her with her blankey that She, Daisy and I all slept with last night (hubby too) So hopefully that will comfort her when she's there. She said they'd keep it with her. I pick her up at 4. Keep her in your prayers PLEASE. Thanks again, Tammy |
Sorry about that. I thought you said that she had had a BAT. Giving an injection and not seeing a reaction right away doesn't mean much in my opinion. At this point though, I guess you have to trust your vet. :) |

All I can do now is pray and hope that everything will be OK. Hopefully with the pre op work, that will cover the bases. I will be hyper vigilant watching her tonight and if I see anything the least bit off track, we'll go to the Emergency Vet. I'm writing their number on my calender and putting it in my cellphone before I pick Abby up at 4. That's all I can do now. Keep her in your thoughts...just good thoughts..no bad ones ;) |
