| Can you feed Raw to a 3 month old?? I am getting a new baby girl in 10 days !! (I will announce it with pics when I have her...sooooo hard to not freak out and tell the world right now though!!) Anyway, I feed Ralphie NV raw and he is almost 1 years old. I love feeding raw but I really need some advice on how to start a baby out on it. She is very small and I believe that she is being fed the Royal Canin puppy 33 mixed in with some canned food. Is 12 weeks too old to start feeding raw? I don't see how it could hurt if I eased her into it but I think this is best left to the YT experts Soooo...Help Help

I Love My Babies Donating Member | Good question. I have just started NV raw with my furbabies. Of course they are older and I love it. I changed them cold turkey.. but they are older, too.

| When I fed raw I had a dachshund puppy that I started on it at 8 weeks. She was eating chicken necks and everything! No problems.

| I started my baby on raw when she was 3-4 months old (she is a rescue so I don't know exactly when she was born). She did great! Now both my kids eat prey model raw and LOVE it. Watching little 2 1/2 pound Ella Bean chomping on a chicken thigh is totally hilarious! She tears that meat and crunches those bones like a little Mini-Wolf!

I was soo glad to find raw feeders too. Most people that I know feel like they need to give me a speech on why I shouldn't be feeding raw. The last person that told me this pulled out a bag of Nutro and told me that it was the BEST dog food and I should only feed that.

| There are some good kibbles and raw feeding isn't for everyone - but many people are misinformed about raw feeding (vets included). My dog's new vet (we just moved) was SOO impressed with my dog's overall health and vitality, and its even a holistic practice that encourages raw feeding. My Cavalier has all kinds of GI issues and raw feeding keeps him relatively stable and saves me a fortune on vet bills. It was recommended by one vet that I put him down as he said chronic GI issues just get worse over time. With raw feeding and using PetFlora and Canine Comfort by Vitality Science, he is a happy healthy boy and his yearly bloodwork came back perfect! This is a dog who used to have explosive, bloody diarrhea every day. I wish more people knew the benefits of a really healthy diet for their pets. So many health issues could be avoided.

| PetFlora is a probiotic - you can read about it here: Vitality Science A-Z Dog Its great for bouts with diarrhea and upset stomach issues. The Canine Comfort is on the same website and is a daily supplement for GI/ Immunity health, as opposed to PetFlora which is better for a short period of time. Actually, I credit raw with helping to save Ella Bean too. She was rescued from Animal Services in Miami after a puppymill/ hoarder bust and she was too sick to go to one of the rescues that took the rest of the pups. She was malnourished, her tail had been severed accidently in a cage and was infected, she had a bis gash on her thigh and she had kennel cough. There just weren't the resources to help her, so they were going to euthanize. I happened to stop by that day, as I had an interview with one of the people that ran the County Animal Services and I saw her...she was less then a pound, scraggly, almost no hair...I took her and saw 3 vets who all said I could try, but there were no guarantees and they didn't think she had a great shot. I was hesitant to offer her raw since her immune system was so compromised, but she refused EVERYTHING. I offered her an NV medallion and she wolfed it down! I was able to get her to eat, take the antibiotics she needed, used the PetFlora as a probiotic and had her on all kinds of immune boosters and gradually, she healed. Now she has a thick fluffy coat and a great personality and is in perfect health. The only reminder of those days is a scar on her right thigh, but most of the time her coat covers it. That was how I found Yorkie Talk! She is a Yorkie mix and since I was up all night caring for her, I started coming online and learning more about this awesome breed!
