Just Wondering.... When a dog is in heat, do they have the same symptoms as us? Fiona has been really sleepy lately, and just laying on her side..... should I be doing anything extra for her!? |
Sometimes they display similar symptoms... |
I just feel so bad for her, and it really stinks not knowing how she is feeling.... |
Well, if its similar to us, she is probably feeling pretty lousy! LOL :D Perhaps some trashy magazines and a heating pad will cheer her up? ;) Poor girl. Hope she is out of heat soon. |

You and I both! I am just so upset that the Vet told me to hold her off, until she was a bit bigger and older, and 4 days before her scheduled spay she goes into heat! :( We are doing fine though, I just hope she gets better FAST!!!!! |
How long does the vet want to delay surgery now that she has gone into heat? |

I was thinking of you earlier today and wondering how your little one was doing. Daisy was this same way especially about the first 10 days. All she wanted to do was sleep and lay in her bed which is way out of character for her b/c she is usually extremely hyper. She went from being like that to now being a little fiesty. She is getting back to her normal self. Her 3 weeks will end on this Saturday and I am definitely ready for it to be over with. Hang in there!! I was worried about her at first too. |

Ok, good to know. My vet said they wont do pre-op bloodwork on her, which makes me nervous too. I"m going to ask them to do it anyways- but she came into heat last saturday the first of Nov. She is acting fine, but then she gets tuckered out! She is doing really well with the diaper too, which is a great thing! I gave her a bath last night because her poor little "tooty" was just so inflammed, and i just wanted her to feel better. |

Other than that, I can't think of anything that helps make humans more comfortable other than Motrin and Midol, which obviously would NOT be ok for her! EXCEPT, a little massage goes a long way when Mother Nature comes calling. Maybe she'd like it if you rubbed her belly or her back or her legs a little, sort of "massaging" rather than scratching or petting, though I bet she'd like that too?? (Bella just got spayed last Friday, so they shaved a little of her belly hair and about a 2 inch strip all the way around BOTH legs [for her IV, which they only used one leg for!!] just above her foot--needless to say, since I am working on leaving her hair long, she looks like a Clydesdale right now! :( ANYWAY, she bites/licks a those areas, but she stops and just lays there when I scratch them for her! All that hair growing back in must be itchy!!) |

I encountered the same problem. A few days before her scheduled surgery, Sasha went into heat. If your little one is normally wild and crazy and now she seems wiped out all the time, that's completely normal. When females go into heat, that is one of the symptoms that they can experience. It didn't really take much effect on mine. She just got swollen more than anything, but didn't really change her activeness at all. Hang in there! She'll do just fine! |

I know! When i was a vet tech would would do bloodwork for any type of animal, any size, or shape. they told me they wouldnt do bloodwork since she is a healthy puppy--but i'm gonna ask them to do it |
