VERY concerned about Cosequin ....well...I WAS about to re-order the Cosequin ~ BUT I have decided to STOP using it as I am very, very concerned and I am NOT happy  I don't know how I missed it, but they put Sodium Lauryl Sulfate (SLS) in as an ingredient  I am sooooooooooooo MAD!!!! I stay clear away from SLS and I can not believe it has creeped into the Cosequin    Dangers of Sodium Lauryl Sulfate Sodium Lauryl Sulfate (SLS ) | Effects of sodium lauryl sulfate |
Oooh jeeze then what is there to give them? Can the amount be so small that it won't be problematic? |

Yup, that is an ingredient in Cosequin. Not happy with it but it still has the most research backing the product and Ellie's vet has never had a problem with it. Glycoflex is supposed to be okay and I have heard good things about SynoviG3 but we are staying with Cosequin until I see side effects or I get really concerned about the ingredients because I really like Nutromaxx. |
This scares me.... Although SLES is somewhat less irritating than Sodium Lauryl Sulfate, it cannot be metabolised by the liver and its effects are therefore much longer-lasting. |
Well i'm glad i didn't buy it now!! |
I really, really do not understand why they need to put SLS in their product :( |
Oh no!!!! I'm using this!!! This really up sets me. Thank you for posting this. I'm taking Gracie in tomorrow for blood work and will bring this up with my vet. Thanks again!!! |
This does look like quite a nasty ingredient but now I'm forced to weigh that because most of these glucosamine products do not work. Ellie's LP cannot worsen and she can't get arthritis because she can't have NSAIDs. I am going to look into this ingredient a little bit deeper and if I don't like what I see, I might switch to something (who knows what). The vet did recommend Glycoflex. Maybe we should email Nutramaxx about this? I have come to believe that nothing is 100% safe and when we switch to something, a few months later it will be on the bad list. |

I am going to look back at the SynoviG3 Allergy formula. ...It is really is so upsetting, as there is NO NEED for SLS to be in this product :( |
Oh, dear! Lady has done so well on Cosequin, too. Glycoflex didn't really help that much, but I saw an amazing difference with Cosequin. She was able to get off steroids when she started taking Cosequin. I guess I'll have to research SLS. I'd never even heard of it. |

She has done amazingly well on Cosequin. She has terrible arthritis in one hip and shoulder. There were times when it flared up that I had to walk her in a sling she was in so much pain. She runs since she has been getting Cosequin! |
oh dear..i just bought 4 more bottles...gosh..it never ends.. |
Yep, SLS is not good at all, but check your (human) shampoo bottles and your soaps...I guarantee if you use ANY store bought shampoos or soaps, SLS is listed as an ingredient. |
