| Oh no! Please no!! Not AGAIN! Chip is over in the corner about to chew his little paws off and he's getting so frustrated he's growling... I don't know why though! He's not "itching" all over his body... just his paws it seems. They haven't been outside in days because it's been too cold and rainy so I don't think it could be allergies... please tell me it's not the fleas!!!! We've been flea free for 3 weeks!!!

| What is his itching/scratching history? Does he have known allergies to anything? What food is he on? Does he scratch his ears? Has he showed any signs of being allergic to grass?

| He's usually a little more itchy than I'd like to see, but not TOO much... if that makes sense. He doesn't have any allergies that I know of. He's eating Natural Balance Ultra Premium. He scratches his ears sometimes, but not that often. I don't think he's ever shown any signs of grass allergies... he's usually fine after coming outside... and he hasn't been outside in like a week and half because the temperature dropped.

| It sounds like allergies. My family has a Goldren Retriever with bad allergies, and flare-ups often start in the paws, and it's normal for them to be localized in one particular spot on his body. He's allergic to many types of food, and to grasses as well. He'd often chew his paws (or his tail) raw. I'd get him tested. With a change in diet and antihistamines as our vet prescribed, we've been able to keep his allergies relatively under control. |

| Yea everyone says it's probably allergies... I feel bad for him, but at least it's not FLEAS... we have been fighting those for months! We gave him an allergy pill last night and an oatmeal bath and he seemed to feel better. I just bought a new bag of the ultra premium so I think I'll exchange it for an allergy formula.

Poor baby, itching is terrible to watch. I had a terrier mix who was so full of allergies it was pathetic. I have read that member's have used NB brand with the fish in it for allergies with great results. Hope that helps you and him.

| The food I used before was Nature's Recipe Fish and Potatoe and he did fine with it... maybe if I switch to the Sweet Potatoe and Fish or whatever it is, he'll do better. Does anyone know how big the kibble is for that formula?? That's the one reason I switched from Nature's Recipe because the kibble was big. I know he's not allergic to chicken though because he eats human chicken just fine with no itching... I don't know what it could be.

Ashley, if your sure he's not allergic to chicken, try NB Organic. It's only protein is chicken. Buddy has no allergies and this is what he eats. WE have had great luck with it. I also home cook and add fresh chicken breast to his am and pm dinner. Sometime one food of the samething can cause a reaction but another brand will not. Good luck I hope you can relief him of his itching. It's so sad to see them uncomfortable.

| I asked them at PetCo and they took me to the Beneful and I am NOT doing that. lol Sure, fatten him up on crap! Those people don't know anything about nutrition. Buddy is a bigger Yorkie to begin with so I can't say he gained weight, he certainly did not loose any I can attest to that. It's a high quality food with all human grade ingrediatants. As long as you know chicken is not a sorce for his allergies. |

| Chip was on Purina One (icky) chicken formula when we brought him home up until he was about 8 months or so. We knew it was a bad food, but he was so sick throughout that time, we decided not to switch his food on him and make it worse. We've also given him lots of human chicken and he's had no problem. I looked at the ingredients of the ultra premium and it says it has lamb and duck in it... I'm wondering if he's allergic to one of those...

Banning Thread Dictator Donating Member | Poor little guy. I'd guess allergies too. Eddie did that when he was a pup, and a diet change solved it, I think. I switched to Canidae, though I've heard some people aren't real hot on that any more since they messed with the ingredients. You don't have salt on the roads yet, do you? Or any chemicals like antifreeze in the driveway? If so, cleaning their paws after a wet walk is a good idea.

I got sample of Canidae and Chip liked it, but I had to coax Smokey to eat it. I need a food that both of them can agree on.

| Bailey has some allergies, so I switched then both to NB Organic Chicken. They both really like it & the kibble is small. Good Luck!!
