Although it is generally believed that Royal Canin is a great food b/c they make a yorkie food, this is not the case. It is not a high quality food. It contains lots of fillers and allergens. Petco is a better place to look and they have Wellness, Solid Gold, Natural Balance, Halo's, etc. which are high quality. |

Yeah once I posted that, something told me to go and look at the reviews...its was not good. So now I am thinking about switching to Blue...it had four stars and no corn or weird fillers. |
Oh and I also going to look into Natural Balance...(thanks stedmansmommy!!!) |
Nutro We feed Mojo Nutro small bites mixed with Nutro canned chicken, turkey and rice and a couple tbsp. of warm water. He loves it! We buy it at our local pet store. |

I went to a pet store around here and thats what the lady suggested for Stormy. Royal Canin. She's been on it and hasn't had any problems, she actually likes it alot. |
There are so many choices out there. I've used different ones but have been using LIfe's Abundance exclusively for my 4 furbs. Let me know if you need direction on where to research it! Missiemiss |

I feed Sasha Nuto small bites as well and have expierenced no problems as well. After looking at one of the review sites, I found out it's only given a 2 star review, but she doesn't have any problems with the food, so as long as no health issues come up, I plan on sticking with it. She absolutely loves it! Everyone has their opinions about the best food though. |
The breeder that I purchased Sasha from fed her dogs Purina Pro Plan mixed with Solid Gold (slightly odd combination) Solid Gold was a little high for my budget since my local pet stores only really sold it in bulk so I stuck with the Pro Plan for awhile. After some time, I noticed that she started getting bad breath and seemed itchy. I mentioned it at work (I work at the Petsmart PetsHotel) and one of my co-workers suggested switching foods and trying Nutro. I saw an instant change in her coat, no more itching and surprisingly her breath actually got better lol. I forgot to mention this part in my above post lol. Like I said up there though, everyone has their own opinions about what food is the best. I know Nutro isn't, but I've had great results with it so far and if I do start expierencing problems with it, I know where to turn to get some advice.;):D |
Purina for small breeds My yorkie is 4 mo.s old and likes the purina. But she has constantly leaky eyes and scratches frequently, especially her ears. and the vet says she doesn't have an infection. I've requested samples of the "chicken soup for the pet lovers soul" after reading several reviews and hope it will help her eyes, itching, and coat. To change her food you should gradually add in small amounts of the new and decrease amounts of the old. |
Most vets don't know what a good high quality dog food is, unfortunately. Dog owners need to start reading the ingredients list, and pay more attention to what is good and to what is bad. The thing is that a lot of people don't know how to distinguish a good from a bad dog food. I personally didn't know anything about dog food, until i started reading and searching, that was when i stop feeding my babies RC and Science diet:thumbdown |
Consumer complaints about Nutro Pet Foods Nutro feeders, have you seen this? The ingredients aren't as big of a concern as all the sicknesses and deaths being reported from owners whose dogs have eaten this food. |
The breeder I'm getting my biewer pup from also uses the purina pro plan, I heard it's one of the better purina brands.. |
