Frustrated with Kibbles.... any thoughts? So i homecook... but use kibble when travelling and it goes in layla's kong (she thinks its a treat if its in there :p) But now with the pancreas issues, I need a low fat (6% or under) kibble. I really only wanted to feed Natural Balance, becuase i do believe it is the best... BUT their reduced calorie food has chicken as its main protein, and Layla is allergic... so i started looking around.. and EVERY senior dog food (They tend to be low in fat aswell) or reduced calorie dog food of any quality have chicken... anyways.. i bought the NB because it also has lamb and venison i believe... and i'm hoping since there is more than one protein source it will all even out.. plus she doesnt' get it often... but does a low fat NON chicken kibble exist???? |
California Natural has a lamb & brown rice reduced fat kibble Eliminate Pet Food Allergies – Hypoallergenic Dog Food & Cat Food – California Natural Pet Food California Natural is made by Natura (same makers of Innova) |

If you go to www.k9cuisine.com...they have sample packs you can order. You just have to pay for shipping...shipping is a bit expensive ..however you can order a lot of sample packs and the shipping doesnt change much...i looked into ordering 10 sample packs to Boston..and it was around 11 dollars..which isnt bad....around 1$ a pack. |

This tells you exactly what's in the California Natural and what is in Natrual Balance. You can also bring up and compare any of the Natura pet foods to any other they list which is most all of them. Premium Dog Food Comparison & Healthy Cat Food Comparison – California Natural Pet Food Marci, is there anyway you can just stick to a low fat home cooked meal. After all did you know that dog food is sprayed with rancid resturant grease to keep the kibble from stinking and to entice the pets to eat it? Not good!!! |
I would recommend looking into Ziwi Peak. It isn't lowfat, but it is a meat jerky that comes in venison, lamb and various fishes. It is uber healthy and especially when used for treats, has not impacted Sissy's pancreatitis issues at all!!!!!! |

Marci, what do you mean less than 6% fat? That is reeeeeeeeally low. Ellie's vet is fine with her getting 18% fat... Low to mid teens is usually more than fine. |
