Now I'm not being silly, but you described the odor of a dead rat........it made me laugh.....cause I've never heard that description before....I'm a breeder and the odor is musky to me.....you must have a real sensitive nose.

lol, actually i do!! my husband always picks on me for being sensitive for smells!!! I can smell anything and when i came home from work that morning and told him something smelled like a dying rat!! And i know what a dead rat smells like cause my ex roommate bred rats and when they died, that's what it smelled like!!!

I have an extremely sensitive nose too......My husband picks on me too...I can walk in from the garage and can tell that one of the furkids has peed way across the other side of the house.....But, I've never heard it described as a dead rat smell.....

lol one time i went into our living room where my husband was and i told him that i smelt poop!! and he said, i don't smell it..and i'm like, yesss i smell poop coco pooped the floor!! So we looked all over the floor couldn't find it, and my husband kept saying, i don't smell anything, then my nose found it on top of the couch!! (coco never ever did that before!!!) and since our couch is brown it blend right in!!! Good thing for my nose otherwise my hubby would of got poop in his hair!!!
as for her heat smell, i still think its smells like a dead rat!!! Makes me gag!!! lol

You are right in regards to Petsmarts. They are promoting Nutro to the point that they have a representative in the store on a weekly basis with coupons. That is their store brand top of the line pet food and they are pushing it hard. I was very upset to find out that in spite of the recall Petsmart had the nerve to have a person in store to promote the food!! :thumbdown I am now using Natural Balance from Superpetz and immediately after switching from the Nutro my Yorkie's frequent diarrhea problems stopped. I did not even try to phase in the Natural Balance mixed with the old food. I started on all Natural Balance and no problems with an upset stomach at all.

You guys need to seriously grow up. I was NOT insulting her intelligence, I asked how flippin' old she is, the way she was talking about the situation SOUNDED like a YOUNG person. I apologize I didn't know we were having English 101 on YorkieTalk. :rolleyes: Grow up.

Roxie came into heat before her scheduled spay and I had to wait a couple of months to get her spayed. I too am always afraid to spay mine and they usually end up going into heat before Iget up the nerve but they have always been just fine. We all know how scary it is to have it done but the benefits out weigh the very slight risk

I know this is off the subject, but Sophie had loose stools with Nutro too. We took her off immediately. However, the Duck and Potato made her scratch something awful. We are back to Royal Canin. Good luck with your baby, and she will be fine with the spay.

hmm that's weird the duck and potato made her itch...i heard it's suppose to help them with allergies..but i guess every yorkie is different and responds differently with each food type!!! I thought about getting her Royal too!!! So for she LOOOVES the duck and potato!!! And her bowel movements are firm and big!!! No more loose ones!!!! Now i can't wait until her heat phase is over!!! I think my husband is getting quite sick of changing her maxi pads!!! lol...I did talk to the vet clinic and they said they can fix them when they are in heat...but it would cost an extra 40 bucks..thought that was weird...but i told them , no i'll wait..I didn't question the receptionist how they could fix her while in heat, not sure if she knew..

Boy, this made for some interesting lunch time reading! I remember when my little Trixie went into her first heat, I about died too! I don't know if the stinking EX has had her fixed yet or not, but I doubt it. I miss her terribly and I wish I knew where she was. I did put on her little diaper too as much as she hated it but it was necessary. I'm glad I have a boy now! Relief!

I would try using Natural Balance organic my Rocky was the same way itchy and once i started using the organic he was not scratching anymore.

It's like 2-3 bucks more but it's worth it

Is she having her "period". I never had a female puppy before and im always paranoid thinking she's gonna die, lol. (a few days ago she had a tick on her and i rushed her to the emergency vet to remove it!!! I think the vet thought i was nuts!!!)
Her privates are enlarged and she is humping her dog bed (though for the past 6 mts she has been humping it off and on) but i have never noticed discharge before until tonight!!!
So let me know what it is...i was always told that dogs "bleed a lot" so when i think blood, i think bright red blood everywhere, not lil spots of browish/ orange discharge...

it could be the beginning of her period. my girl was swollen and she humps when its time for her to be heat.
