I think they can afford to offer cheaper prices, as they are a big chain :D But really, they sell good products here, and really not expensive. I know they sell Kong Ziggies for about $1 and in another pet shop I saw they sell it for $1.50 :rolleyes: Since I usually buy 10 at a time, it is definitely a save.

Conditioning treatment?? Even I haven't had that for a looooooong time :D I don't have microwave :D we old skool ppl lol. But when I shower my dogs, I let the towels warm in the sun for about an hour or so, and it gets toasty warm! Mocha loves towel warmed sun :thumbup: Stops her shivers immediately.

I forget we have people from all over the world here, a towel warmed in the sun is much better than a towel warmed in microwave, it will never get too hot!

I've been using Johnson's baby shampoo for 20+ years and never had any skin or coat problems.

I was just wondering if your dogs have long or short coats, from what I've read, it seems to make more of a difference if they have a longer coat because the dried hair would show over time.

I suppose so :D We are concerned if we use a microwave, we will be too lazy to actually cook anything properly, and the electricity bill will hit the roof! :p

I can say, my mom used to use human shampoo on Lulu the shihtzu. Baby shampoo, johnson and johnson's, switzal, pantene conditioner, you name it. I mean, this is Indonesia right, people usually don't know about the PH difference, or if they do, they will usually say "why should we get a special shampoo? so bothersome, extra cost". Lulu never had skin condition, but she had TERRIBLE mats.. Now we use a VERY generic shampoo by Sergeant's, and her coat is soooo much nicer! We never thought dog shampoos is not just marketing tricks, but there you go. We are convinced now.

I don't buy shampoo for my dogs because I wanna be all Paris Hilton or whatnot, but they DO have different PH skin/hair, and it DOES work. :)

1. Before dog shampoo, you can see how terribly dry her ends were. This is RIGHT after bath and grooming.
2. After dog shampoo, you can already see how nicely the fur falls. This is FIVE days after bath.

I'm sorry if maybe the pictures aren't so good, or if anyone thinks the before or after picture doesn't show much difference. I guess tactile feel is better than pictures :)

The breeder that sold me my riley actually told me to use Johnson & Johnson baby shampoo that its gentle and safe for them as there fir retains about of oils the ph is not high and it is made for babies:aimeeyork

People are under the misconception that baby shampoo is gentle because it was made for babies. It does have the benefit of not burning the eyes like so many of the old time shampoos did before it came out. But it was made for babies and babies have cradle cap, it's a seriously oily condition that you need a strong detergent to strip the oil. The pH is made for humans, not dogs. As I said before, if you're not growning the coat out, it may not make any difference, but keep an eye on white flakes indicating the skin is too dry.

Could some one tell me what KONG's are. I have never heard of them.

Ha ha, do you know how to start a new thread? On the top left hand side of each forum are the words "New Thread", click on that. I bought a kong for Joey, it's basically a little rubber toy you fill with food. You can buy kong stuffing, which Joey didn't like, and some people say they stuff it with different human food like unsweetened yogurt. I found it terribly messy.

LOL, yeah I know how to start a thread, I had heard "kong" twice today, had no idea what it was....so someone mentioned it in this thread, so I just thought I'd ask. haha I quess I'll try to find one, they sound cool for some food. Yeah I'll bet yogurt would be messy.

Oh, okay, thanks for explaining, I hadn't read the whole thread today, it's an older thread. Some people just love the kong, I think they suggest you freeze it, maybe it's less messy, I tried peanut butter too, I don't know what people do if they have carpet, I have wood floors, so I can clean it, but the steaks of food were too much for me.

When I first got my puppies the dog groomer gave me puppy shampoo for Trixie, who is a Pamapoo. When I got Xena I used the shampoo but for two months she was itching like crazy, it was so bad the vet noticed the red marks from scratching. I switched her to baby shampoo thinking maybe she was alergic to something in the dog shampoo and the scratching stopped. I know the Ph levels are not the best for puppies but the baby shampoo won't hurt them either. If your puppy itches or you suspect she is alergic to something switching to baby shampoo is actually ideal to find out if it's the dog shampoo.
I have noticed Xena has alot of matts and tangles, I never considered it could be the baby shampoo until now, just thought it was her black puppy fur. Thanks guys for sharing that info. Sadly it will have to due until I can find puppy shampoo that doesn't make her itchy. Walmart has an aweful selection and the pet shop's pretty far and pricey.

I used EarthBest nonsulphate baby shampoo.

I wouldn't use half the so called safe baby products sold on my kids skin or fur...MHO.

Wen by Chaz Dean has kids cleansing conditioners now I'd use that...we all use wen here kids dogs adults.
