| I am so sad.... Roxy is going to be 4 in November. When I got her at 6 months, she had the double row of teeth and they were so disgusting from never having her teeth brushed and from her eating poop. We had her spayed and her baby teeth pulled. And then when she was about 17 months old, we had a professional teeth cleaning, and 4 teeth (baby, that they didn't get before) were pulled. She has lost 1 tooth that I found a year ago. I tend to her mouth and teeth all the time (b/c she still will eat poop here and there). I use dental pads and clean her entire mouth, over and over. Then I brush with the small dog tooth brush and CET toothpaste. Then I use the Petz4life spray (on my finger and rub her teeth). Her teeth are still not the best looking. She has small teeth and lots of gaps and spacing and while her front teeth are white, her side and back teeth are discolored. She doesn't really have any tarter build up that I can see. I have asked the Vet about her teeth every year, and in the past he said they are fine (b/c I brush regularly, etc.) But now....her 2 very front teeth are loose, and the other 2 on either side of her front teeth (before her fangs) have major gum reseeding ![]() I am so sad.....I made an appt next Wed. to talk to the Vet about "if" we should do a cleaning or if I should keep doing what I am doing and let them fall out themselves. She doesn't seem bothered by them, but I do have to be very careful when I brush those loose teeth, b/c obviously the movement of them is sensitive. I know this is very common, but I have tried soooooooooo hard to keep her healthy (she has LP and MVD and CT already)....and now this ![]() I guess I am also really, really scared about putting her under. Over the years my fear of that has gotten bad. I was ok for her spay, and I was ok for her LP surgeries, but I guess now that I have read more stuff about all the things that can happen, I am really scared b/c I just don't want anything to happen to her ![]() Any Advice or Experiences ???? |

| Yeah, we have been through that. ![]() Ellie's teeth weren't taken care of and they were full of tartar. A couple of her front teeth started falling out about 2 years ago (they were white but some of them on the sides were full of tartar and discolored). She had to have nine adult teeth pulled. If Roxy's teeth are falling out at this age (and the gums are receding), I would think it has got to be periodontal disease. Infection can go to her organs if it isn't treated. I'm surprised she doesn't have tartar build-up though. I'm sorry you are having more problems. ![]() I thought I was doing well with Ellie's teeth but I looked at them all yesterday and am seeing some brown build-up on the bottom. ![]() ![]() ![]()

I hate to add one more thing to her list of problems ![]() Honestly, I am really surprised that her whole top row of teeth are having gum issues. She has 6 teeth up front (before her fangs) they each have tremendous space between them, so it's not like they are over crowded. They are pure white, no staining, no plaque or tarter (that I can see) but....they gums are reseeding (on the roof of her mouth part). Her very front teeth are loose, and I fear that the remaining 4 teeth may also have to come out, as the gums are quite reseeded and I guess can or are allowing bacteria in ![]() Her side and back teeth are yellowish stained - but again no tarter or plaque build up ~ as I MUST clean her teeth all the time #1 b/c they have issues and #2 because she will still eat poop from time to time. For the past year I have also added the Braggs Apple Cider Vinegar to her PM meals, I hope that or the Petz4life that I rub on her teeth are isn't causing her gums to reseed like this Last edited by TLC; 09-09-2008 at 07:14 AM.

![]() Yeah, I am going to venture that Roxy will also have to have the entire top row pulled. Not sure about the bottoms though...those bottom fronts are no bigger than a grain of salt - no joke - so I suppose if they had to come out too, it's no biggie. Her tongue hangs out all ready b/c the bottom teeth are so tiny they can't hold it back
