do dogs hiccup??? my dog, i think is hiccuping, is this possible???:p he's defintely not choking and seems to be fine. perhaps he ate too fast :rolleyes: |

Yep, they sure do. And for some reason more so as puppies. They kind of out grow it but will still occasionally as adults, just like us, get them. Usually if you pick them up and put them down several times in a row it will stop them. |

Mines hiccups, burbs, sneezes, and even farts. One time, I was just laying down with Naboo in bed and unfortunately her butt was next to my chest. She farted, got shocked, smelled her butt and took off. I was like WTF? She left me there with the surrounding air...... |

Mine hiccup, burp, fart, sneeze and even snore,lol! Usually a few of these are done right in Mommie's face too. I even had one fart in my hand, talk about making me laugh before going to wash my hands,lol.:eek: |

Naboo usually hiccups when she has her ball in her mouth, she gets too excited jumping while the ball is in her mouth so she starts hiccuping or burping. |
kenji hiccups a lot as well. he'll hiccup for a good 5 minutes straight. i think it's so cute. |
good to know it's normal ;). my family always had larger dogs who i nevver heard hiccuping so i thought maybe this is abnormal! being a new puppy owner, everything that they do i question whether it's ok or not. heheh |

My little Pasquale was hiccuping the other day...freaked me out cause i had never seen a dog hiccup before. But dear god can that dog burp....everytime he does..i say "god , you are such a man" LoL It amazes me something so small can burp SO loud! |

Yes, My Suzi Hiccups too. She is 6 months old though. I did not know it was common in puppies. Poor little thing, when she hiccups, i know it is uncomfortable for her. :aimeeyork |

Heart stops... I heard that Your heart stops because your diaphragm and the muscles near it convulse, causing you to briefly gulp air. This causes the glottis to slam shut which makes the "hic" noise but I wonder if this is the same for dogs (pets) ? When Sami hiccups it is cute.. but knowing that hiccups cause the heart to stop I do get a little worried.. but it stops within a few minutes |
kinnys used to hiccup as a pup, i used to rub her throat and tummy gently and they would go away |
