Can I thin Bernie's hair? - YorkieTalk.com Forums

His hair is so stinkin' thick. He's 8 months old and cute as a bug in a rug, but I know that thick hair has got to be hot. I don't want to shave him down, because I love his hair long. I was thinking about getting a pair of thinning sheard and see if I could thin is underneath some. I'm by no means a groomer, but I've been keeping him neat and tidy myself. If it can be done, I think I can do it. What do you guys think? That's him in the avatar photo.

You could do that, but something else you could do is shear it down the middle of the back and have it taper down to the length you want. That makes it a lot thinner and looks nice, too. I had it done on Kacee once.

Or you could shave the tummy, chest area down and it makes the entire package not so thick

Actually the coat keeps them cool in summer and warm in winter. It only "looks" too hot to us.

You gotta be kiddin' me. I don't get it...I don't understand how that works. I'm hearing you say it insulates them from both the hot and cold, but how?

Thank you all for your input. I really appreciate all the ideas. I'm constantly trying to "slick" all that hair down with my BioSilk. I think I'll trying thining it down under the top layer of hair. I'll let you guys know how I do.0
