| Baby Teeth? So I cannot find anywhere that says at what age exactly a Yorkie should be losing its baby teeth? I thought they just feel out when the adult teeth are growing in. Can someone let me know what is going on and if I need to be working on this? Thanks! |

| Yorkies tend to retain their baby teeth..the adult teeth come in and they end up with double rows of teeth..my Pixie had all four baby canines and 3 incisors removed when she was under anaesthetic for her spay..this way she only had to be put under once. Adult teeth start to come in around 5-6 months of age and should all be through by about 10 months.

| Thanks. I'm just trying to figure out how to get his baby teeth out then. He doesn't play with rope toys. We have tried that and he just don't play tug of war. We have a sock out for him to play with cause he does very rarely but when you go to pull the other end he will just let go. I'm thinking it's because he thinks we are taking it away. Any other good ideas to help get these teeth out? And when he does lose this baby teeth, how long does it take for the adult teeth to come in? Thanks again for all your help! |

| Harley is 6 months old and has lost 3 or 4 that I know of. One of the long sharp ones in the front is loose and an adult version of that tooth is growing in right next to it. She has this chew rope toy thing and sometimes I play "gentle tug-of-war" with her to shake them a little loose. I am hoping at least a few more will fall out before I get her spayed so I can save a couple bucks and so her breath doesn't stink as long. |

| A big hello to Minnesota from Wisconsin! Buster Henry has lost eight of his baby teeth so far and he is just over five months old. He is getting a double-row of teeth up front, so we're planning to have all of his remaining baby teeth removed when he is neutered next month. We play tug of war with a rope and that works well - although he has lost the majority of his teeth on his own and we assume he swallowed them because we haven't found them. The whole tooth-losing, adult-teeth-growing-in process has happened quickly - it started just three weeks ago and already eight have fallen out and several adult teeth have come in.

| AHHHH! So I finally had my husband home at the same time as I was. He put Jack in a domanince down position so I could peek in his mouth and he has like 8 baby teeth missing! It's sort of weird to just see gums. I haven't found any laying around but they are super tiny. This is really exciting. I swear when he had his mouth open the other day he had his baby teeth. How long will it take for his adult teeth to come in? I see little white areas on the gum where the teeth should be coming in at but I don't think it's the teeth coming through the gum just yet. |

| I've been thinking about his lately also. Kobe is 4 months and I've just been trying to poke around to see if there is any action going on in his mouth. I haven't noticed anything yet but I was wondering one thing. When he does start losing his baby teeth, should I stop feeding him kibble? How will he chew with no teeth? I'm a new mommy so this may sound silly.

| Do not feel bad. I felt the same way. Jack has been chewing on these raw hide sticks that are Pork flavored that I got from Target. Plus a few other things. I just feel bad that he had only gums. Hopefully his new teeth come in.

I Love My Babies Donating Member | Chewing on kibbles and other toys or hard food will help the new teeth break through. At least it did with TJ. I also had a teething ring that I put in the freezer. He loved chewing on it.. when his teeth were coming through.. it helped his gums feel better. By the time he was neutered at 8 months, he only had 2 baby teeth left. The vet pulled them when he was under.

| I'm so glad I found this thread I noticed this morning that BeBe had a lost a tooth on the bottom and I was afraid. So losing teeth is pretty routine though not really common?

| So as you all know, Jack lost almost all of his baby teeth between the cainines on the top and bottom. And now his two front teeth on the top (as far as I can tell) are already coming in! I guess we won't be singing "All I want for xmas is my two front teeth" at xmas time anymore....... lol.
