| Question about puppy food exactly how much am i supposed to feed an almost 12 week old puppy?! he currently weighs 1lb & 7oz and he's very healthy (according to our vet) i feed him 3-5 times a day and i give small portions.. but i don't know exactly how small to give him.. sometimes i think its not enough but i don't want to over feed him. also, i've picked up some orijen kibble for puppies and i want to eventually have him on that but i'm not exactly sure how to go about doing it considering he wont eat dry kibble by itself. if i mix the two together how much should i give him? thanks in advance

| I free feed my puppy .If you leave food and water down all the time then your puppy will eat when hungry. You can still measure out the food daily to keep track of how much he/she is eating. Yorkie's have tiny stomachs and can only hold so much in, however they can get hungry sooner too. I got my puppy at 9 weeks. since yo have a tiny baby you really do need to make sure he is eating enough all the time so he does not experience low blood sugar.

| I free fed Franklin until he was about 7-8 months old. The vet always said he was at a perfect weight. I think it's important for puppies, Yorkies especially, to always have food available because it's so easy for them to slip into hypogylcemia.

I agree! I always leave food down for my almost 6 month old pup. I measure out 1/2 cup a day and he usually never eats half a cup. The side of the bag should tell you how much food to serve by weight. If your pup is going potty and playing as he shoud, all is well. He just may need a little more food because he is growing and may be active. I just wouldn't go crazy over feeding him. I guess if it were me and my pup was that young I would just try not to let him go into hyperglycema (forgive the spelling). I hope this helps.
