Layla is suffering from the heat.. any other dogs? We are getting a heat wave! upper 90's today and coming up the next few days with the humidex. When she is at work with my mom.. there is air.. but it has a hard time keeping up so it's warm in there.. when we come home.. we have air but it has a hard time keeping up.. but it is comfortable inside. Layla has little interest in food and just wants to sleep. Anyone else's dogs suffering from the heat? She comes alive at night time.. we go for a walk (it will be too hot tonight) or she will play with her ball but during the day she has a rough time.. she also tends to eat in the evenings. Anything i can do to help her? |
Sometimes it gets so hot here in Georgia, I just spritz my boys with a little water to cool them off. I just let them run around a little damp. |
I dip mine in the pool...they also love to eat ice. |
It's hot here too and I have AC but with cost and dh likes it real hot it is pretty warm inside and the girls have all been laying around. |
Yes, it is hot here and Seymour just wants to lay around........ but we have AC...... so I don't think the heat is an excuse. I think that he just likes to sleep all day. :D |
Yup, it's been hot here for a bit now. I finally had to turn the A/C on cause Pi'i was taking dips in his water bowl:rolleyes: |
Jamie doesn't like the heat either. And boy is it hot! But we have central air conditioning so inside our house it stays really cool. (I hate the heat too!) He only runs outside to potty and then runs right back in and eats some ice. After dark he would play outside all night if I let him. |
Yes it is extremely hot here in California! Over 100 ! I have central air condioning, and it is on all the time. I hate the heat too. My son is out of school so we have been staying up late, and sleeping in. Suzi our 5 month old yorkie is doing the same thing as we are ! She also loves to play in her water dish. Suzi gets all wet doing that and there is water all over the place, but she loves it ! I use potty pads and keep her indoors... Because of the extreme temp. :aimeeyork |
Maybe wiping her down with a wet towel and keeping her damp will help. Or dipping her in water. That's what we are on the boat. It really revives Hot Rod.:) |
Leo loves to play in his wading pool and he adores ice to play with.... try keeping her a lil damp... my breeder told me they can keep cool through their feet so if you keep their feet cool they can stay cool. I just gave Leo a hair cut to keep him cool. |

I'm sorry she's not doing well in the heat :( Its always hot here in TX...probably close to 100 every day now. I don't think mine act any different though. When we come in from outside, they'll drink a lot of water, and Lacy will lay on the tile floor to cool off...but other than that they don't seem too bothered by the heat. |

We get heat waves as well plus the humidity UGH ! love heat but not the humidity... when it gets real hot, we get to have a wet T-shirt day, once the T's get pretty dry, we start all over again, they just love it.:coolsmile |
Blaze is very much affected by the heat. He is the only one out of my three that has a cotton coat and it grows very puffy and full. We just had him cut to what we refer to as the Chihuahua cut:(. Its not my favorite look but you can tell how much better he feels! |
Have you seen the cooling mats and vest at Gw Little? the matt is like 27 bucks and the vest is 39. it is filled with gel crystals and you soak it in water and it says 65 degrees for 3-7 days before you have to resoak it!! Pet Supplies Dog Clothing for Small Dog Breeds - GW Little it is actually featured on the main page Bella is insane. She stays outside with me all day no matter the temperture:( |
How about 105 degrees !!!! We just came in from being outside for about 5 minutes...I dipped 8 legs in the pool, couldn't catch the other 4 little legs..He's quick !!! Went inside to some cool pieces of watermelon !!! mmmmm They love Watermelon...:D |
With the weather so hot.. I have to water the yard a lot. Unfortunately we don't have the underground ones.. so I drag the sprinklers around. My little ones either run through the sprinkler or just wrestle in the wet grass. :) You can imagine all the little footprints on my kitchen floor. :) But it is washable and they are cooler and happy.. so what are a few (thousand) little wet prints? LOL. When I get too hot, I join them in the sprinkler.. can't you just see it.... a 59 3/4 year old woman and 3 little Yorkies frolicing through the sprinkler. Thank heavens I have a tall wood fence. :) |
