Glucosamine help please! I started giving Layla her Glucosamine suppliement again last week.. then she started getting sick so I stopped. I am going to start again this week but should it makes her sick again does anyone know if Glucosamine comes in another form? right now i'm giving her a liquid on her food. Thanks! |
Missing link has a formula that has glucosamine in it. It is a powder. Can she take that? I know she has a sensitive tummy |

Poor little girly girl!! I hate to sound barbaric ;), but have you considered glucosamine in the form of an injection, such as Adequan? I am by no means a dog expert but am extremely educated in equine nutrition and lameness and know that the IM Adequan injections are much more effective in horses than the feed through variety, which in horses has not been scientifically found to be beneficial. Anyway, it's just a thought (and I know horses are so different from dogs but anyhow). Sorry if it offends you!! On a second note, have you tried probiotics for her little tummy? |
I am using a liquid called Flexicose Liquid Pet JointCare. For a small dog, you only need a teeny tiny amount so a bottle would last a long time. I am giving it to Brea (my tiny one) cause of the hip surgery she had and the LP in her other leg. I also use it for my Dane. :) They both like it and it hasn't caused any problems for us. I actually got mine on e-bay but there are lots of places online you can buy it too. |

and yes.. her belly is getting probiotics :) |
Its def. an option. Check it out and see what you think. There is lots of good info online or talk with your vet. I know it is amazing for horses and they are having really good results with it and dogs. Are you using it due to an injury or as preventative care? Layla is just the cutest thing!! |

I buy Cosequin. It's like the purest form of glucosamine and we've never had a problem with upset stomachs. My vet switched to something else so I had to go online to find it. I just throw a capsule on their food every other day. We tried an inexpensive kind from Trader Joe's and had major diarrhea issues so I understand! |
OK so I was just thinking I could mail you a few capsules so you don't have to buy a whole bottle (it's expensive) but I can't imagine what customs would say if I mailed you unlabeled clear capsules with white powder in them... ;) |

If I had to chose a brand of glucosamine right now for Ellie, it would be Cosequin. |

Can anyone tell me where I can buy this? is it a liquid? i'm so nervous i'm going to buy it and the same thing will happen. I'm still crossing my fingers that when i start it up again this week that everything is normal and that wasn't the reason why she was sick last week! |
If you choose to go with cosequin you can get it online at 1800petmeds.com or a similar site. Cosequin is a good source of Glucosamine. |
