I am glad he is feeling better. Poor little guy, that was too much on his tiny body. :aimeeyork |
Yes he seems pretty normal now. We aren't touching his legs/hips where we believe the shots were given but he's up and playing almost to normal. We can pick him up without incident now, we are being careful though not to touch his legs as I said above :-) He's eating normally now WOOHOO!! |
Vaccinations This is a very well-presented article by a vet, regarding vaccinations. I am very interested in researching this subject, as a friend's dog got encephalitis from her annual shots. Dr. Kimberly Parker - DVM I know this is a sensitive subject, but information is power and will help us all to make better, more-informed, decisions. Thank you. |
I am glad he is doing better. Buddy gets pretty sore after a vaccination, and we give baby aspirin if he is really bad. If you only gave the Benadryl as a precautionary measure I would avoid that in the future. The Benadryl is why he just sat there and would not walk around, it just completely wears them out. Before you swear off vaccinations I would talk to your vet or maybe a different one about what occured and how to prevent it in the future. Although I agree dogs are over vaccinated, vaccinations due provide them with protection from some very serious illnesses. Also keep in mind if you do not vaccinate him it is pretty much a guarantee that no groomer or boarding facility will ever allow him in. They have to protect everones animals. |
Colorado State University and CVMA - Vaccine Protocols In 2004, Colorado State University, in conjunction with the Colorado Veterinary Medical Assn. published new vaccination guidelines. http://www.colovma.com/associations/...es%20final.pdf I am using these articles to work with my own vet to spread the word about the dangers of over-immunization. It is my hope that these resources will help all of you to educate yourselves, your vets, and your friends and families. Gradually, we are making progress, but it is up to us to gain the information we need to make informed choices. Hope this helps you and your pets to stay healthy. Deborah |
