| We don't call it "periods" in dogs. We call it the heat cycle. The heat cycle lasts for about three weeks in dogs and you must be very careful that no male dog can get to her. Males will climb fences, breed through fences, do anything to get at a female in heat within miles. A pregnancy at her age could be very dangerous. |

Yorkie Yakker | My little dog requires a lot of pampering during her heat cycle! She seems to want more time with me. When my baby went into heat, I called the vet to ask some pretty "dumb" questions. But I learned alot! Dogs never go into menopause. They continue to go into heat. But pregnancy can be very dangerous at an old or very young age. Good luck with your first cycle. |
