Just administered FrontLine Plus....need help! :eek:I just administered FrontLine Plus to Bella. She's running around.....can't get still. It's never had this affect on her before. She's been very itchy lately, biting, etc. She had gotten better, but lately having to give her Benadryl. Why would the FrontLine Plus do this now & not ever before? About to call the Vet. Anyone had experiences like this?? |
it could be an allergic reaction or she just doesn't like it, Give the vet a call he may say to give some benadryl. |
Was there an open sore possibly on her somewhere where the meds got in and could be burning her? Call the vet! |
I would wash it off right away and call the vet! Good Luck! |
diggy didnt react to revolution the first time he got it but the second WOWSERS it was bad! id have her looked at by vet for sure. good luck keep us posted! |
Thank you all for the quick response!! She's a little better...waiting for the Vet to return my call. She's still acting strangely....can't rest, but not running around. She was in my arms for a little while, but keeps moving from spot to spot? |
Vet just called back. Not very much help. He says he doesn't see that many dogs have this reaction, but sometimes he does get a call that this has happened. Says he really can't explain "why". Sometimes, it's the fleas that run to their head area after administering that is making her feel uneasy. Honestly, I think I've seen 1 flea on Bella when gave her a bath in Dawn last week?? I know she can have a reaction from just 1 flea bite though. He wanted to know if she was vomiting, diarrhea? But so far, No, thank goodness. Hope she doesn't get worse:( |
glad she is a lil better Diggy reaction lasted 3 days and thats with benedryl every 6-8 hours. he itched BAD and was very restless....I think she will be okay but Id have a vet look at her and did you bathe her? |

No he wasnt itching before the med....and the reaction came on slowly i mean he ran around and itched acted funny on it but that night he would lay all 4 paws up and SCREAM trying to itch so bad and ran in circles like a mad man!! how old is Bella?? most seasonal allergies develop between the ages of 2-3 from what i have read. could she have a seasonal allergy that the frontline has agitated? |
Bella just turned 1 in April. Her allergies developed though when she was around 10 months old. The Vet thought she was too young for food allergies? She wasn't scratching after the flea med was given, nor is she now. She just wants to be held now and is still right now. |
hopefully its just that the smell bothers her. I have one that when you spray doggy perfume on her she runs around crazy trying to get it off. I hope thats all it is and shes better |

Flea med chemicals can build up in their system...I'm so sorry your baby had that reaction. I would wash her off quickly... |
Alfie was the same with Frontline.....:( he runs around like mad trying to get it off and then he seems to stare into space and is just not himself.:( I took him to the vet but he said it does not go into their system and he had never heard of anyone else having this type of reaction!!! I dont know what to do either as I worry if it does build up in their sytem although the vet said that was impossible!!! |

Poor little baby. I'm sorry, but I hate that stuff with a purple passion. The chemicals we are all injesting in one form or another is killing us. After what Frontline did to Mandy I will NEVER use any of that crap again. Her back leg was dragging, foot turned under in less than an hr. after we put it on her. Vet said, must be something neurological. Well, duh!!! I guess so. I just try to keep them inside and bathe, bathe, bathe. I use a natural organic spray with oatmeal in it too and it stops the itchies . Hope that baby will be okay. Alot of people use these products sooooo I'm just saying this is my opinion. |
flea and tick meds go to the second layer of skin if I can remember what a friend told me who worked at a vet's for years...I hate that you should apply the whole thing to a little dog when it says it's good up to 25lbs...Surely someone could make smaller doses for our little ones !!!!! |

You know at the vets they are not going to say anything bad about Frontline, Advantage, or any of the others because they sell them. Just like the prescription dog food They get a kick back on Science Diet. I know everyone feels different about things but I am scared to death of this stuff. I know beyond a shadow of a doubt that was what happened to Mandy's leg. She hasn't had a problem since. |

i had no idead that this stuff was bad for small dogs. I used it on cats before with no problem. The vet gave me advantage especially for smaller lb. dogs. I had not used it because Suzi has not had fleas. Has anyone heard of the other Advatage for smaller lb. dogs?:aimeeyork |
