I would look for any changes in Buffy's behavior, especially in bowel movements and eating and drinking habits. Since she didn't choke, the rawhide will probably be broken down and digested. I do not give rawhide or pigs ears not only because they are a choking hazard, but because they pose a risk of bacterial infection such as Salmonella infantis which can cause flu-like symptoms (e.g., nausea, vomiting, abdominal pain and diarrhea). My babies love BullySticks. I think they are a hoot!!! Penis treats -- like they aren't doing the cows (or bulls for that matter) any good. Here is info about BullySticks from http://www.bullysticks.com :p Bully Sticks are 100% Bull penises, Not a tendon, and not processed meat strips. Bully Sticks are dried, lightly smoked or natural flavor and delivered to your door. We never try to hide what they are by giving them little cute names. |
I don't give rawhide to Sully anymore....but I used to, and he's swallowed plenty of chunks of it and been fine. (But it scared me that he could have choked, or will in the future, so, no more.) These days, Sully would just a well chew on his toys - and an occasional cube of frozen applesauce. But he does have a beef rib bone that he likes chewing on and carrying around the house. He can't really bite hard enough into it for it to hurt him but he loves licking on it and carrying it around. |
Beef ribs sounds like a GREAT chewie. I sometimes give the little round bone from a beef shank. I have the butcher cut them 1/2" thick PERFECT for a Yorkie!!! LOL |

It lasted about 35 minutes and then went straight to the trash and Sully had to have a bath. Samantha, Sully has never had a bully stick but I know about "that smell" that is just too bad to bear, haha!!! |
LOL.....I'm glad your bf described it like that because I have to agree...I told my bf that it smells like a stank buttcrack...it permeates too....lol, I keep it in a ziplock bag in another ziplock bag and he is only allowed for 15 min. before he gets bath...lol, and only on the hardwood floor...lol, no rugs |
