| I can't vote (how come?) but... I feed Mia about a 1/4 cup in the morning with a small spoonful of wet and 1.4 in the evening with another small spoonful. She never usually eats all of the dry.

| Banning Thread Dictator Donating Member | Good advice, everybody, thanks. Someone else gave me a home-cooked recipe from Dr. Pitcairn. I may experiment with that too. It was interesting to note that the recipe calls for a 10-pound dog to eat 1 1/2 to 2 cups of the homecooked. It sounded extreme, but the person who gave it to me explained that it's all about the calories, not the bulk. This recipe says a 10-pound dog should eat about 410 calories a day. Now that I check, though, the canidae bag says there are 364 calories to a cup. Eek. You wonder what to believe.

| I free feed. Otie is 9 pounds and Ollie is probably 11 or 12. They usually get 1/2 cup twice a day. (I guess that's too much)

| I cut Charlie back too much, and he has lost weight. He was eating Orijen @ 1/2 cup/day. So, I am increasing his intake to get him back up to 9 - 9.5 lbs. and adding quality wet food in small quantities. The vet told the number of calories he needed in a day, but honestly don't think it is enough. Eddie probably is hungry and I bet he will burn up calories with the warmer weather.

| Ok..... we eat Iams, free feed. But the truth is, we spend time as a family by taking drives. Emma usually eats both her meals in the car. If we eat or get a drink, that seems to be her cue to eat. She eats about 1/4 cup per meal. Then from time to time is we play hard at home she will grab a snack from her bowl, but that snack usually doesnt amount to much. I know she is ROTTEN! |

| I do homecooking and I find that Pao (10 pounds) has way better appetite than we were feeding kibbles and canned. Had a vet check last week and vet said he is lean and fit. Generally, I feed 1 to 1 1/2 cup a day split in to two meals of homecooking but when we do a lot of exercise, he tends to eat a little more and he'll let me know when food is not enough but at most he eats 2 cups a day if we are out walking for more than an hour a day. He doesn't eat more than he should even when he is around another dog so I don't have to worry of him overeat. When he is full, he stops eating and knowing him, I feed him till I can see that he is full and is satisfied.

| Will Eddie eat fresh fruit or veggies as treats? That's what I give mine, as well as Cheerios and Yorkie Yummies.
