I just wanted to clarify the differences in bones: Beef bones are not all going to be okay, because there are many different types of bones in an entire cow. There are also many types of marrow bones - in fact, almost every bone has marrow in it. With that said, however, most "marrow bones" that you find at your butcher shop will likely be femur bones. Also, there is only one type of femur bone :p, and they are found in the hind legs. The bones in the front legs are called the radius and ulna. I'm glad I found this thread! I've called one store and they said they did not have them. I'll have to call around some more. |
1 Attachment(s) Okay I have a question. I've attached a picture of the marrow bones I've found. Is this what they look like? Also, when you have them cut, do you cut them vertically or horizontally? Like do you cut the whole bone into "strips' or do you cut the circle up into smaller circles? Does that make sense? |
diana, thats what i thought they looked like too.. until i saw the other picture.. oh boy... |
Ok, I think I posted the entire bone lol. I pm'd nvnvgirl the op and she said femur bone and to ask the butcher to cut them in 1 to 1 1/2 in increments and I would assume that is circles. He says they are about a buck a pound. |
i just found this great video that gives you a little more detail and a tip on what to use them for afterward...awesome...i am going to have to call around for marrow bones now...hehe Should Dogs Chew on Bones? | ExpertVillage Videos |

I found this link.... they sale them. Dog Food Deli: The Nations First 100% Live Raw Meat For Dogs Has anyone ever ordered from them? I might just wait until we go home. We raise cattle, and I think dad has one up to take to the butcher here soon. Just wanted to check this site. It's like $24 for 4 lbs. |

Raw Meaty Bones - Excellent for Teeth & Gum Nourishment Those bones are cut exacly how I ask the butcher to cut them. |
My supermarket is out of them. The butcher said they go fast. She said she will order some more and cut them small for me. She said to call her on Monday. They are already frozen too. Daisy's teeth look really good but Teddy's are getting a little stained looking in the back ones. I'm looking forward to trying these. |
can we get a photo of one Quote:

Hi everyone, Just wanted to let you know that I called Whole Foods and they do have them--slightly more expensive than other prices listed here though. (a bit over $2 / lb) You can search online here to see if there is a Whole Foods store near you: Whole Foods Market : Stores |
