reeses and Lexi Rae let me know if your babies will like the bone. I know for Maxi that was the best thing ever! He appreciated that treat more than anything I ever gave him. It keeps him busy for hours:D |

Will the marrow really bother them? I picked up two at the grocery store but they are the big ones and the butcher said they won't cut them there. I'm still looking but in the meantime, I wanted to give these a try but do you think the marrow will cause stomach upset or other problems? Anyone? |
Does anyone have a link they can post for us? To buy the bones? Thanks. I'm def gonna get some for Daisy to try. She HATES getting her teeth brushed! I mean, HATES!! |
I just went to my Local Butchers today and picked up a bag of already frozen bones..they have a little bit of meat on them but i guessed that that wouldn't harm them at all..they are rather on the large side..ok for my Staffy but pixie doesn't seem to mind too much..next time i'll ask if he can cut some of them a little smaller just for her. The rest i have put in my freezer and will give them about twice a week as a treat. Pixie is 10 months old and i have already noticed some her back teeth were looking a little dirty..she is still losing baby teeth too so hopefully that will help to dislodge them..I'm also going to keep on with the brushing and buy some Petzlife. |
I went to the grocery store last night & asked the butcher about it, (marrow bones or beef femur) he kinda just looked at me like I was crazy lol! I'm going somewhere diff this afternoon I might just try saying soup bones! |

I gave one of the smaller ones when I had them, to my new little guy (he's the one that was found starving) and I decided that b/c he needed to gain weight it would be ok to let HIM have one with the marrow in it. He devoured the marrow (like he devours EVERYTHING edible) and not too long afterward, he vomited a big bunch of white, foamy, greasy liquid. It was DISGUSTING, so I think it's just too rich for their little tummies. I am not going to let him have it again with the marrow in it. As far as them being big, both these guys were perfectly able to drag them around for hours (by "Big", I would say they were about 3" long and 2-2 1/2" around). I would just make sure I got all or most of the marrow out. OH...the marrow is very SOFT...it's not gristly like fat would be on a steak; more like butter kind of, but I still think it's not good for them to eat so much fat. |

Soup bones are completely different and they have lots more meat on them. They might be almost as hard and I did use some once, but they were too big of a hassle to get the meat off, just the way that they're cut I guess. Beef bones won't necessarily be marrow bones; but marrow bones and femur bones are the same. HTH! |
