| URGENT! I need help right away please! I just found Blossom chewing on an empty, which means she ate the inside powder, capsule of my high blood pressure medicine which is hydrochlorothyazide 12.5 mg. - or HCT. I called the 24 hour emergency line for animals but had to leave a message because I got a machine! Can someone tell me what to do, if I should give her water or try to make her vomit? Help! She seems okay, chewing on a bullystick and romping around, but she ate it only about 10 minutes ago. Can someone help me? Thanks. |

Donating YT 10K Club Member | Do you have an emergency number for your vet? Or an emergency animal hospital open 24 hours a day...I'd call either one of those.

| I'd try the vet again and keep calling till you get someone or call another. I'd also make her throw up, pronto. It isn't caustic, so throwing up should help. |

Phantom Queen Morrigan Donating Member | go to the emergency vet as soon as possible. do not make her throw up unless you call them and they say to. she might be acting fine right now because its only been 10 minutes but it could cause some bad reactions once it starts kicking in. i don't think this is a wait and see situation.

| Try calling the emergency animal hospital and asking for the poison control hotline. My sister had to call the one in MA one time, and it was open 24-hours. I hope Blossom is OK. |

| Thank God it's okay Well, my 24 hour clinic called me back although they told me to call the Animal Poison Control Center so I there called right away. Thank God everything will be okay. I was told there's no permanent effects, only temporary thirst and she'll be peeing a little more through the night. Thank God! I would have never forgiven myself if something happened. I must have dropped that pill somewhere before we even got her last October because I certainly would not have left it if I dropped it with her living with us now. Who knows why she found it now but she sure did! Thanks all for the quick responses. BTW Tiggerr36792, thank you for the free hotline number but it was after hours so they couldn't help. I'll use this as a reminder to be extra careful. |
