| My Olive and Louie going to get spayed and neuter tomorrow Okay, They will be spayed and neutered tomorrow., I am kinda worried because the vet told me they can go home right after the surgery. Is this normal? I thought they have to stay there for 2 days or even a day to heel. Do I have to make extra precautions on what can they do or not? I am worried because they do sleep with me and our bed is pretty high up, they jump and play. I have not put them in a crate ever since I got them home. Worried Mom

| Its normal for them to go home after unless something goes wrong during the procedure. They will be kind of "out of it " because the anesthesia but they should be fine. It may be wise for you to put them in their separate crates just so you know they are safe and not trying to over exert themselves. Of course keep them close nearby but Im sure they will both be napping quit a bit for the first 4 days or so. Try not to worry they will be fine. |

| Some vets will keep the girls overnight, but usually all boys go home the same day. Your biggest challenge will be trying to keep them "calm" for a while after the anesthesia wears off. Good luck with that. I'll be thinking about you. Let us know when they're home safe with you.

| My boys were neutered on the same day...They both came home that evening....They were out of it and pretty much slept all night...Next day...they were fine.....I was a basket case but they were okay.... As for girls, my daughter had her little yorkie spayed and she came home the same night also...However, she was a little more sore and they had to keep her confined so she wouldn't pull the stitches.... Hope this helps??? Joyce

| oh my, now I am really getting worried about them. I also read somewhere that something terrible might happen. Like, lose them while under anesthesia? Is this common? Olive will be 4 and Louie will be 3. Olive is about 6 lbs and Louie is about 7-8 lbs. I am so sick to my stomach just thinking about it.

| I know Louie for sure needs this surgery done. He marks everything in the house! Olive is great inside the house, I have been potty pad training them since it is soooo cold outside still. But, my little boy still marks and pees everywhere.

| Ok, whewww!!! That was the longest 6 hours ever. I got them both back. Olive is so doozed off and just wanting to sleep. She doesn't even want to eat. Even french fries! Louie on the other hand is jumping and running allright, more interested on the food more than anything else. I kept them separated, just in case. I was looking on the sutures on Louie, and I feel like it is going to come out! He keeps on licking it and they didn't put an e-collar on them two. What should I do?

| I would go either get a collar or put them in baby onesies. This would keep them from liking, biting, etc. Quote:

| Glad to hear they did great!! If they're licking excessively, I agree with the onesie. But shortly, they won't even pay any attention. And just to warn you, I had one suture that just seemed "off" to me. It was poking out long after the other sutures were disolving. The vet said it was one of the internal ones, and some just take longer. It did and it's fine. So don't freak out too much about the sutures. I also thought they didn't sew Coby up "tight enough" . It was allll fine!
