| home cooking For those of you that are home cooking for your furkids....do you ever just give them kibble fo rthe day if you are rushed or out of food for "them". The reason I ask is cause I just started home cooking of rthem and it is my bust season where I work almost 24/7 and some days it is just too much to cook for me and cooking for them is additional. I am asking those who home cook cause I know you have thought these things through already. Thanks Tina

| Thanks I am not that well organized yet...I have the menu pretty much down pat but not the "bulk" cooking. Got the vitamins from the vet and he also gave me omega3 to put on their food every other night instead of olive oil "which they love" so they get olive oil every other night. I was just so tired when I got home form work...though it would be a rest evening...got out at 2PM and then had to run to the super market to get chick cutlets for them...then rested at home for about 45min to get up an appetite...got up to cook for them (they do love it and deserve it) and lost my desire to have dinner so wound up eating italian bread and olive oil...and there goes my "healthy diet". But the kiddos got fed cook food and maybe I will have something later....oooohhh what a mess. But thanks this would have been the perfect day to just have given them some kibble...by the way I feed them Innova. Not all that crazy about that brand since there was some rumblings on the list about some news that came out but they are doing ok on this bag so I might switch after this bag is done. Whew....sorry for rambling. But thanks again. Tina

| I know this is controversial, but some of these vitamin supplements were created to give with a food already full of vitamins (like kibble). I highly doubt that these have enough vitamins/minerals for homecooking. My first question would be how many milligrams of calcium do they have in them...

| every month i make up 2-3 types of protien (usually extra lean beef or veal, lamb and used to be ground chicken but now Layla is allergic) i put it in small baggies and freeze it. Then i chop up veggies (always carrots, usually broccoli, cauliflower, peppers, celery) in a food chopper. i put it in small baggies as well. Layla doesn't get any starches on a normal day but if we are making potatoe or rice i'll give her some fresh. I take out baggies for the next day and thaw them. She usually gets a snack.. used to be yogurt or cottage cheese- but we found out she can't have milk.. so maybe an egg or oatmeal... fruit... and if we are having someting like fish for supper... i make some for her without the seasoning. |

| I am on my way to work but will give you the breakdown of vitamins and minerals when I get home later.....I do give them kibble in the morning. These vitamins are like cow pills....soooo big. I have to give 1/2 per day. Every dinner they get meat or fish....with a variety of veggies (uaually 2) and either a swee potatoe or brown rice. Every other day they get omega3 on their dinner. In between they olive oil on their dinner. and of course during the day either some yougart, chopped apple, cottage cheese.....or other goodie. I don't give a mid day treat on days when I am working out of the house. So it's not every day they the mid day treat. Tina
