I'm glad you don't know what they put in to some of the food we eat ourselves...My good friends father used to work where they made hot dogs...do you know, they are allowed to use so much rat hair as protein in certain foods, ground up earthworms, etc? IMO, I think dog food is the best for them..All of our dogs have lived long healthy lives..The youngest dog we've had die, was 15 years old, he ate purina dog food, just like the chihuahua that lived to be 19..none of the dogs ever had to go to the vets for anything, other than shots..

I have heard that dog food is regulated better that people food and probably healthier for you. They put so many bad things in people food that I do know about, like soy, preservatives, artificial sweeteners, etc. Finding the right diet for your dog is no different that trying to find a healthy diet for our selves. There is so much controversy as to what is best, high carb/low protein, or high protein/low carb, low fat/high carb, etc. What works for one might no work for another. It is all trial and error. I do feel that it is wise to rotate the food in your dogs diet.

My nephew always tries his dogs food, said if it's going to be fed to them, it's going to pass his test...LOL Of course, he's a farm boy, he's even tried cow pellets.. I know I won't ever go to another dog food with these 4 little ones, not after having them so sick the other day...I should have bought stock in pee pads Sunday..

i started feeding Kash Royal Canin before i read about it on YT. i'm now in the process of switching to Canidae (by mixing the two)... i also feed him merricks canned food (once in the morning, once at night).

Congratulations on your new furbaby. My little guy Oliver loves Chicken soup for the puppy lovers Soul and you can get it at pet stores.

Yep,
I got a sample from Blue and I give it to O for treats. He likes it. The sales guy at Petsmart did an awesome job naming all of it's benefits and plusses.

I learned this the hard way. You can do all the research you want and gather all the opinions in the world but if your furbaby is gonna be a picky eater, the best not might be what he/she will eat. The best thing you might do is get samples of some of the foods your considering before you spend a but load of money. Here is the link...

Any help for us peeps out in England? We don't have any of the foods you are talking about except Euk and RC...which as you have said are not very good for a pup.
Has any one ever heard of or tried Nutro Choice or Natures Menu?
I also haven't gotten my little furbaby yet. I'm going pick her up on March 30th and I have no idea what is the best thing to feed her. The show/breeder that I'm getting her off of feeds her cooked meals at least twice a day,free dry food meals, and gives her goats milk. Is all of that necessary or is she just spoiling her...which I'm not apposed to but I don't want to over feed her. So many questions.....

Just because some people say "they are bad" doesnt mean they are bad for your pup. It wouldnt hurt to try them out and if he/she doesnt like them well then worry about what to feed. If your pup will eat them thats all that matters because when I got my pup it was difficult to find a food he would actually even eat.
