No longer using Salmon Oil and have a question - YorkieTalk.com Forums

I am going to try and make this as short as possible cause Lord knows I tend to ramble all the time

To cut to the chase, I have taken both of my kiddos off NV Raw and put them on Natural Balance Potato & Duck (they are both doing EXTREMELY well on it and Tatum is itching SOOOO much less!!!

YAHOOO!!!)

However, now that they are eating the dry kibble, neither one of them like the Salmon Oil squirted on top of their food. They were totally fine with it when I put it on their Raw in the morning, but they DO NOT want to eat their dry food when the Salmon Oil is on there.

So, my question is this. Is there anything else I can give them that will provide the same benefits that the Salmon Oil does?? Maybe possibly in a DRY/SPRINKLE formula??

Or even a liquid that they might like the taste of better? I don't want to totally stop the supplements, but I can't force them to eat it if they don't like the taste of it

P.S. - Tatum has really bad allergies, so I need something that isn't going to interfere with that.

RATS - I needed a laugh - why'd you fix it ?

(I know the answer - that's why so many of my posts say 'edited' - I always manage to see them after I hit submit)

and can't help you on the oil/food thing....but good luck

A lot of the dry supplements like missing link and things like that also contain yeast and some things that could be considered allergens, so I wouldn't recommend something like that. You could always try flax seed oil, but that MAY be an allergen for some...not sure...
If you give fish oil though, vitamin E should be given as well

What benefits are you looking for from the salmon oil?

When Ellie was on vitamin E and didn't like it on her food, I punctured the capsule and squirted it in her mouth. I'm sure it tasted horrible but it had to be given... Could you just force the issue?

I give Miko the vitamin E like that too, but he actually likes it that way

LOL! I guess he thinks of it as a treat.

Why is vitamin E recommended if you add fish oil to your yorkies food. I only add salmon oil....will that hurt them?

Thank you so much! This is what I was afraid of and I did in fact used to give them both Missing Link but stopped because of the allergy thing.

Just the benefits it gives for skin and coat health

But wait a minute here...I should be giving Vitamin E along WITH the Salmon Oil? So they need BOTH? Is that correct?

Cause I have never given them straight Vitamin E. Oops!!

Puncturing the Vitamin E and squirting it directly into their mouth is a great idea. I'm sure I'll get attitude for it, but oh well lol

Where did you get your Vitamin E from? Do you give them just regular Vitamin E? I am totally clueless about this, sorry girl LOL.
