Hi Christy!! Welcome to YT!!:D |
Chachi itched when he ate it also |
I bought Natural Balance So I took back the food I bought before and I bought Natural Balance Potato and Duck. :) Is that an okay food for them?  I talked to the lady who worked there and she recommended that over Wellness. Has anyone had any problems with that food? Also I don't want to upset there tummys so should I slowly mix in the new food, or just stop giving them Royal Canin and just the Natural Balance? |

This may help... http://www.yorkietalk.com/forums/sho...ht=potato+duck |
I feed my two RC. Their breeders recommended it and so does my vet. The only other foods available here are Hills and Eukanuba, besides the really cheap and nasty supermarket stuff. I have read many bad reports on RC,(on YT) but my two are fine on it. No itches or anything else. The RC we get here is imported from France, do you think this could make a difference and that is is better than the RC make in the US? I really don't have any other option, I know vets recommend it as they get a cut back, but our vet is a good friend and has my kids interests at heart. He even gives me a discount as it is so expensive. I hope I'm doing the right thing. Sheilagh |

i think i'm going to have to switch her off RC, she does itch a lot and she's biting her feet a lot too, maybe this whole time her biting issues are cause she's so itchy... do i still need to free feed her, or should i try to just cut out her free feed kibble and just feed the raw 4 times a day now. |

Other dogs have problems, yes, but an 8 week old puppy wouldn't have allergies yet. I wouldn't make any food switches for an 8 wk old until they'd been w/ me for at least 3 weeks, and even then very slowly. Aren't you feeding raw though? |
yes i feed raw three times a day and have RC indoor puppy down for free feed. i'll call the vet tonight and see if we can come in to be checked up... i don't mean to sound stupid, but i thought she was just being a dog and itching a little, she doesn't bit her pads, but shes does go at her legs a lot we'll go check to make sure, i have free and unlimited vet visits anyways. |

Puppies are especially vulnerable to mites/mange bc they're easily passed on from the mother. They can be EXtremely tough to diagnose, sometimes even requiring a biopsy bc they've burrowed under the skin. Read this whole page, but especially FORM #3: DEMODECTIC PODODERMATITIS: Demodectic Mange Some itching is always normal, but if a dog or puppy is biting/licking paws/legs...it does warrant some looking into bc of the potential of what that might mean. |
