My Malt had hers removed and when Peanut gets neutered his are going too and he has like 12 duplicates!!! |
after reading all of the replies I feel lucky. It is hard to get a really good look in there because he is so wiggly, but it appears Preston only has two baby teeth left, the lower fangs (not sure the technical name for these. Michelle |
Probably a stupid question At what age do their adult teeth start coming in? Kaba is 7 months and I looked in her mouth and all I see is one row of teeth. I thought all adult teeth until i read this post and now maybe her adult teeth haven't even come in yet?! |
Okay guys. Thanks for all the replies. I'm actually getting kind of angry now that I've had three responses from three diff vet offices telling me that they would not remove the baby teeth until he was older because they could "mess up his mouth" if they do it any sooner. But it sounds to me like his bite could get messed up if he doesn't get them removed or worse an infection could set in. The baby teeth seem pretty impacted right now, so I don't know if they will come out on their own or not. He also has pretty stinky breath and I have been brushing every day, so I think it's from his baby teeth. I contacted his breeder to see if she had any suggestions or to see what her vet would say. Someone said she should have told me about this. She did not. Maybe she just didn't think about it at the time  Can anyone recommend a good vet in the North Ga area? |
Wicket still has one or two of his baby teeth left he was a year old on the 22 of this month, I still haven't gotten the courage up to have him netured yet, as my other yorkie died while being put under, even after all the pre blood work up was done before, hand and everthing seem fine. I have a great vet, it was just one of those thing that can happen and did. so now I am face with the same decision again. |
When Banjo was at the Vet school, they said he had some baby teeth that had not come out yet, and they needed to come out1 I thought vets waited on neutering,to see about this with teeth, and keep from putting them under 2 times?? |
If it was me and the vets would not do it at this age, I would post pone the surgery until they would do BOTH at the same time. |
Wooow, I'm really surprised to read that the vet won't remove the teeth. When Zander was young I would give him half of a merricks flossies, along with other chewy things, I kid you not, his baby teeth were falling out on their own. He was 1 week shy of 6 months when he was neutered, the vet pulled 2 teeth, that was it. With Jazzie... lots of chewy toys, same thing, 2 teeth pulled, she was spayed at close to 7-8 months. Both their mouths look fine, bite is aligned, great smiles ;). This is the first time I've read of vets not wanting to pull the teeth or that pulling the teeth can cause problems. Hmmm very interesting. :animal36 |
i'm in the same situation right now.. my baby has 2 rows of teeth.. and none of them seem to be budging.. so i believe he's going to get the baby teeth removed when he gets neutered.. they said it would be okay after 6 months to do so.. |
