How about ground buffalo or ostrich? I can get both in my big chain grocery stores. I think rabbit might be a good alternative too, if you can get it. Ground turkey is probably ok, but introduce it slowly if she hasn't had any yet. I feed my two tilapia, perch, salmon, and canned tuna from time to time too.
Remember, you can always sub cottage cheese + eggs, as well as legumes or soy products for meat in some of the recipes. This should help give a little more variety, provided these things don't irritate her tummy.
To get your hands on venison, ask friends/family if they know anyone who hunts, or hunted and has the meat in a freezer. A guy I work with bow-hunts, and offered me some of his deer meat (for a small processing price). I ended up not getting it, because I didn't get back to him in time, but I think it would have been great for them! Oh well, next season :) |
