Can I Use Clean Empty Egg Shells ( Ground Up)
Instead For Calcium ? I Have Been Using The Healthy Powder That I Mixed Up.

It isn't good but we all eat it and we have no choice, so don't worry about it. While fluoride might clean teeth (and that's questionable to me) it has been linked to hypothyroidism, bone fractures, hormone imbalance and dental fluorosis in people. It is certainly not as good as dentists make it look.

You can use those baked and I think the healthy powder is balanced with phos. Does the healthy powder call for egg shells specifically?

It Says You Can Use Either Powdered Calcium Or Baked Eggs Shells , All Cleaned. Then Ground Up

Nope. You add nothing unless it is for a specific health issue...
For instance, I will be adding fish oil again soon to Ellie's food to alter tissue levels (for her liver I think it is). I have the print out from Ellie's nutritionist about how much fish oil to give for this if you would like me to type it for you I would be happy to... since TJ and Roxy would have the same needs...

It is fine to use them then since he already balanced the ca/phos for you. Just make sure you use the portions he says if you want to stay balanced...

No that's ok. This is back to the 'other' doggies. I am still trying to decided what to do. I was already to go the Healthy Powder route, but getting a diet from the petdiet.com and then getting the BalanceIT (and then adding fish oil and another supplement to aid with joints) might be easiest for my Mom and Sister.

I plan on consulting with a Nutrionist for TJ and Roxy, I am concerned since they have liver issues, I really want to get it right for them. ;)

LOL...they put you in charge of all their dogs' nutritional needs?:p

And the fish oil is safest if it is USP approved...

:rolleyes: I know. But I am the 'fanatical' doggie owner of the family. Of course they want the best for their too, but they don't do all the research like me. They home cook and are just not 'aware' of everything 'we - want to be aware of' ;)

i use the healthy powder recipe from dr pitcairns book. i also homecook , so there are supplements that i add to his food.
there are quite a few people on here who really know about recipes and supplements.
sammy has been on homecooked food sice the dog food scare. he does well on it.

Ellie has eaten mostly homecooked since the recall too.:) I know lots of people here use Dr. Pitcairns book. I have it but don't use it... Besides all the ingredients in the healthy powder, what other supplements are you giving?
