| Blood on tooth My Yorkie yawned last night and I just happened to glance in his mouth when I noticed a streak of blood on his tooth. It is on his back molar on the bottom so you can only see it if you open his mouth. It is not ozzing out of his mouth, it just seems to be on that one tooth. Does anyone know what could have caused this? He eats normally so I would have never noticed it if I hadn't glanced in his mouth. I am calling the vet today but before I did I just wanted to get some feedback to see if anyone else had this happen to their yorkie.

| Maybe he's losing a tooth around that area.

| Is it possible for him to loose a tooth already when he is just 2 years old? I will know for sure this afternoon because I made an appointment for 4:15.

| I hope he isn't losing a tooth. That could mean periodontal disease. Are his teeth nice and white or are the full of tartar?

| It could be gingivitis, and if it is, then he needs to have his teeth cleaned. This disease is also bad for his health as well. |

| His teeth were cleaned last year so they are fairly white. I hope it isn't anything serious. I'll let you know as soon as I get back from the vet.

| Had he been chewing on anything earlier? I know when mine chew on cow ears sometimes I will see a little blood on the part where they are chewing. I think the chewing action just scraps the gums sometimes. |

| Well I took my furbaby to the vet yesterday and you are all going to laugh at what it was. It was a tiny piece of red yarn! I couldn't believe it. I was so worried for nothing. I was a little embarassed but then relieved because it wasn't anything serious. The yarn was stuck in between his bottom back teeth and was in a bad spot that I couldn't reach it. So when I caught a quick glance of it I thought it was blood. It took 2 technicians to hold him down so the vet could open his mouth so there was no way I could have seen it myself. Oh well at least it wasn't anything serious.
