Teeth cleaner you put in their water? Does anyone use this? How effective is it? I'm having a H*ll of a time brushing teeth. I have a couple that totally freak out and I was thinking about trying this type of product. Any insight would be appreciated! Thank you! |
i have no insight - sorry but i am subscribing to this thread because my pups will not sit still when i try to brush their teeth.. they HATE it.. i have to keep buying the dental bones and forcing them to sit still whenever possibly to be brushed :( |
I am interested i this too. I have the Petkin.... Liquid Oral care ... so far I have not seen anything. We are on Bottle #1 though. |
Virbac Animal Health C.E.T. AquaDent Drinking Water Additive is the BEST I have found - I tried the ones from Petco & Petsmart - they don't even come close to this Product! My Vet suggested it to us & he sells it there at his office! It reads to add 2 teaspoons to a quart. i add about 1/2 teaspoon to their lil bowl of water. http://www.cetdental.com/ |
eaglez thank you so much for the info! now my puppy kisses will smell a little better :) |

call around at the vets in your area.. If you can't find it - I can pick some up for you & ship it to you. |
I just ran out of the teeth cleaner I put in their water and I forget the name of it but it seems to keep their teeth nice and white and it sure has brightened up my 6 year old Boykin Spaniels teeth too..she got the thumbs up at the vet this year!! Dawn |
I've definitely got to try this! No one in this house likes having their teeth brushed. |
The other day I was at my vet's office where I saw the C.E.T. liquid dental product. Asked about its effect on tartar. She said that it was basically for bad breathe. Was disappointed. Don't know if her assessment is correct, though. Joanne :aimeeyork :aimeeyork :aimeeyork :dog: |

I heard Petzlife is good, I haven't tried it myself. I thought it was worth a shot. it comes in a spray and as a gel. |
hi, i have been using petzlife gel for since i got sammy over 1 year ago. when i got him he was 14 months old and had some tartar on his back molars. what petzlife has done is keep more tartar from forming, but not removing what was there. i religiously brush sammy's teeth every night, 7 nights a week , which he lets me do and i am not that thrilled with it. does anyone know of any other stuff that will take the tartar off without me having a vet clean his teeth. i am trying to avoid this at all costs. does this cet stuff remove tartar or is it just for bad breath? thank you |
Xylitol in AquaDent i thought i read on here that Xylitol wasn't good for furbabies. here are the ingredients in aquadent. Ingredients: Xylitol and Chlorhexidine Gluconate in a proprietary alcohol-free vehicle. Store at room temperature. gloria |
has anyone used petrodex toothpaste? i just bought it but i want to wait util rossy feels better from his surgery. |
I have used the CET chew's, they kind of look like a rawhide but they have enzym's in them for the teeth to clean them. I really like them and so do the dog's. I get them from my vet. |
I have been using the oxyfresh stuff you add to the water and its been like 2-3 months and I do see a difference in my dogs teeth. It took like a month to notice anything and it keeps the stinky breath away. |
I don't use anything in their water, but I use PetzLife (the spray and gel) and the vet said that Mojo had the best teeth she has ever seen!! (really)...I don't know if it is from using the PetzLife products all the time or what? I try to brush their teeth, but they make it a chore! My vet sells something called OraVet...that you brush on? I don't know who well that works?! |

I've used the "put in the water" stuff - didn't really see any affect on the teeth or breath I use Petzlife gel & spray. Gel is the best. Mine don't like the spray too much. I've thought about spraying it on a wet washcloth and wiping their mouths as that's what I do with the gel. It does clean off the tarter. I got this stuff from Healthy Tails Pet Supply Store which is all natural and looks like powder. It's made from cheeses, probiotics, minerals, and other natural stuff. It's called WYSONG DentaTreat. I quit using it when I got Petzlife because I didn't want to be using too many products... but the guys at Healthy Tails swear by it. |

that is cheaper than i pay at the vets office even when you add the $4.99 shipping! I also use Petzlife gel when i brush their teeth. |

I know that someone on here mentioned once about feeding their babies cottage cheese because the natural enzymes and calcium, helped w/ their teeth....I might have to do a search to see what all was mentioned in that thread.... |

Petslife I also have petzlife. does anyone know if its still effective if you just manage to get it in thier mouth? |
Just got back from the vet with Toto and can't believe I saw this thread ... Dr. Coons and I just had a very long discussion about this! [Just had to peek in before going to the office!] :) When he checked Toto's teeth he said that they are in remarkable condition for her age and size ... he was really nice and didn't add "and as pampered as she is!" Anyway, I asked him about the stuff that you put in their water ... he said that he doesn't find that it does any good. I asked him about the PetzLife ... he said that the gel might make a little difference, but it's due to the brushing. :( I said, you know I'm looking for a "magic bullet" here? :p He said that chewing items like the little rope dental toys or the C.E.T. chews and giving a litte hard kibble do as much good as anything else. He wouldn't recommend the C.E.T. chews if they gobble them up but since Toto is a little "nibbler" to give her a half daily. They are slower to digest is the reason he wouldn't recommend them to those who gobble them up. He also said that Toto will be fine for at least another year! Haven't had time to read all your posts but will later. |
