| Food allergies, please talk to me I have a quick question. Can one piece of popcorn or one cornflake possibly aggravate Ellie's corn allergy? I think she may have had one bite of something and now she is at her ears again. How much does it take to cause a reaction?

Donating YT 30K Club Member | If she has a severe allergy Iwould think it could start it up. Cali has allergies to yet undetermined things and she has been scratching terribly this week, Maybe it's from the dryness in the house this time of year. Hope she stops soon.

| Thanks for the quick response. I really don't want her to be allergic to corn because everyone drops popcorn and cornflakes easily wind up on the floor. It is dry in here but that never bothered her before. It sure is bothering me though.

| Depends on how severe her allergy is. Trixie is allergic to shell fish, snaped up a very small piece of shrimp off the floor and less than an hour later had a swollen mouth, trying to make herself throw up, and having problems breathing. So, it is possible. Just keep a close eye on her and make sure you have some Benadryl on hand. |

| Okay, atleast I know it can happen now. She is fine, just itchy. I'm sure it will last for a few weeks now like before.

| Beau doesn't get bothered by one piece of anything...and he has SEVERE allergies. Just be careful though! And like mentioned before, keep that benadryl next to you!

Furbutts = LOVE Donating Member Moderator | Okay, VERY interesting that you asked this. If you know Marcel's poo/ibs/post-giardia history - you know the mushy/bloody poo saga I used to be on. Since working with the nutritionist - voila - perfection. Well, there have been 2 incidences of a mushy/mucousy poo - and BOTH times my hubby had given Marcel ONE measely peice of his popcorn. So, I guess they can be really sensitive to certain things, poor little babies.

| You would think that one piece of something wouldn't hurt. Grrrrr... It is so weird that she ate corn for four years without problems. It is an acquired allergy which leads me to believe that it is not a good idea to feed the same exact food day after day for that long without change. I think her little body is trying to tell me something (like it was way overloaded with corn before).
