Chris Christensen Brush What type of CC brush is best? I've read that the Gold series is very popular among people but what size should I get? I'm not sure if I should get the 20mm or 27mm? What does everyone else use? I'm not growing her hair really long for show or anything, just a few inches long probably. Thanks for any advise!! |
Their brushes are big. I like the 20 mm better |
I was just checking out the CC brushes at a store the other day but I can't seem to bring myself to spend $50 on a brush right now. So I settled on buying a $20 CC butter comb! :p I'd love to get one of those gold series brushes though...maybe I'll ask for one for christmas! |
I like the 20mm pocket fusion.:) |

I got the pocket one too, and it works great . I also used the buttercomb (I think it's #006) to comb out his eye bogies and it worked like a charm. |
Thanks for all the info. What is the main difference between the gold and the pocket fusion? I'm not that familiar yet with all of the different brushes CC has. Bella has more of a cottony coat, but she still has puppy hair too. She doesn't like to be brushed with the different kinds I have tried so I need something that won't hurt her, that's why I thought I'd better try a CC brush since I hear they are so great. She has a few mats around her front legs also that I'm not sure how to get out. What brand does everyone use to spray on them before brushing? Thanks again for all the help!!!:) |
I have the 20 Fusion Brass and I love it and the gang loves it even more.:D |
I honestly don't know what the difference is between the Gold and Fusion pocket pin brush. The Fusion is made of solid brass pins that are static free, but I am not sure how this compares to the Gold. I first learned of the CC brushes from a thread on YT. Everyone was raving about the gold pin brushes. So I decided to get a pin brush but when I was ordering I opted for the Fusion, simply because it was newer. ;) I highly recommend getting a CC brush. Roxie had the same problem as Bella, she HATED to be brushed. Now Roxie loves when I brush her! Which makes me very, very happy! :) I use John Paul Smooth Coat Instant Detangling Spray and PetSilk Shampoo and Conditioner. |
The fusion brushes are solid brass 100% static free and can be used when keeping a dog in oil where as the gold can wear off and not recommended to use with oil... My dogs have a silk coats so I use the shorter pins but for a cotton coat you might want the medium... you might also consider a Isinis Brush... |
I've got the bigger brush because Sadie's hair was longer when I got it. I wish I had the smaller one now. It's the best $$ I ever spent!!! |

Isinis?? Hi Sonja - thanks for a great post - I'm looking to get a good quality brush for Izzy and have been looking at this thread. You mentioned short pins?? Also what is an Isinis brush and what's the diff between the CC and Isinis brush? Izzy has silky hair too and she is only 2.5# and 7 mos. old so she would need a small brush. :animal-pa |
i bought the 20 mm gold series. and would not use any other one my dogs. it took me a long time to decide to spend that much on a brush. they(yt members) told me this same thing when i was pondering the idea. if you have any questions about the brush you can call them.(i did) they are very nice to talk to. I asked what the difference is in the gold series. they told me it is for the more fragile hair types. it has more give and so in turn less breakage. the tips of the pins are polished and there is absolutely no scratching. it is more of a massage. they were right! well worth the money. |

This cinched for me as well - Sonya - well done - thanks for taking the time to explain - I have no problem spending the extra dollars when it's quality and won't hurt Izzy - she tolerates the slicker brush that I now have. :goodpost: |
I just ordered a Chris Christensen oval pin brush today for $21.00 at https://www.sitstay.com/store.cgi |
for the longest time I couldn't understand all the fuss over these brushes but I finally bought one and now I am asking myself why did I wait so long they are wonderful....I got the buttercomb and I am going to order 2 more for them...well worth the money....:) |
Thanks for all the great information everyone. I am going to order a brush today and can hardly wait to get it. :) |
I think that you will be happy with either of those brushes! Let me know how you like them when you get em in... |
Did anyone get the new brushes yet? If so, let me know what you think.:aimeeyork |
Hey everyone, I just got my new brush the other day. I got the Gold series 20mm brush for Bella and I just love it. She is already starting to enjoy being brushed finally. She always hated being brushed before. The brush works great!:) |
Just got my Isinis brush in the mail the other day. Finally a brush that doesn't hurt my little guy! He actually seems to be enjoying it except when I try to do his legs (that's a no-no, no matter what I use  ). I just find it makes a little bit of static so I spray him with detangler first. |
I bought the 20 mm for Zada who is a silk coated and Azrael who is a cotton coat, and it works beautifully on both. The secret is to find one that gives very easily when you push on the pens. A lady I met at the dog show who shows Yorkies has this brush and told me about it. http://www.sitstay.com/cgi-bin/sdisp.cgi/HBCC35.lg.jpg |

I have that brush and I have to say I really don't like it.The pins seem a little sharp to me and the rubber on mine hs no give at all. I run the pins down my arm and they really feel rough. |
I finally broke down and bought the 27mm gold series CC brush as my maltese's hair was 14 inches long and cottony But it also said in the description that it was for "fragile" coats which sort of clinched the idea of getting that brush. My yorkie is in long coat too but has thinner but works fine on him as well. I love the brush and have no regrets in spending the extra for it. But now that I have cut Kallie's hair shorter and Toby's hair is thinner, I am going to buy another brush but still in the gold series group..........maybe even a butter comb.:D :D |
I just ordered today: the 20mm FUSION BRASS POCKET/TOY PIN BRUSH. I hope this is the right size for Izzy - she is tiny 2 pounds 5 oz and has the silky coat. I'll post how we like it once we get it. |
Where do you find the butter comb at? I looked on a couple different sites and I bought my Gold series one from Needsndesires.com but I didn't see a buttercomb on there or the other sites I have looked. Is it called something else? Maybe I'm not looking for the right thing. Also, what is the butter comb used for? |
