Clipper recommendation I already do Chloe's baths anyway, so I've decided I'd like to just do the whole grooming job myself. Anyway, right now, we're not trimming her hair. I just need a clipper to trim the hair on her toes, around her butt, and on the tips of her ears. Can anyone recommend a good, reasonable, easy to handle clipper? Thanks! :) |

Misty, As you know I show and groom. The best clipper is a Whal Peanut, purchased at Sally's. It's wonderful for doing a very clean ear trim and foot pads. I use manicure scissors for trimming the hair around their little anus. |

Is this the same one? http://cgi.ebay.com/WAHL-PEANUT-clip...QQcmdZViewItem It looks small and easy to handle. I have a conair clipper that I used to trim the kids' hair with, but it is large and bulky. I would not want to go at it on the dog with that one. |
I use the Wahl trimmer from Wal Mart. The one I have has a reverserable head. One side is probably no wider than 1/2 inch the other side is about 1 inch. I really like that it trims close and doesn't knick. |
Just buy the mens beard and mustache clipper. It's small enexpensive and does the trick nicely..........just ask me!! :D |

Never used or seen the Laube clippers. The Peanut has a 30 and what I love about it is that it's real safe. For cutdowns I use an Andis with a 7F blade and start at the base of the tail and go towards the neck. It gives such a great velour cut without the track marks. I use the peanut for getting in those tight places on these yorkies. Also, use it for trimming my dam's tummies, just before whelping |
Thanks for all the tips. I went ahead and ordered the Peanut from a different person at ebay. The best price I found was $29.99 + $3 shipping Wahl Peanut at ebay. I called Sally, and it was $52 there, so this is a pretty good price! |

any good way to get a dog used to the noise they make and not to run away? ;) I'm slowly getting Bella used to the blowdryer (she still tries to run some and sometimes growls at it) I turned on the clippers one day (I just wanted to trim her feet) and she didn't like the sound of it at all. |

The Laube clippers move much faster then the andis and is great on those thick coats that the andis just doesnt move as fast though. The downside is the blades heat up quickly so Im constantly cooling them. http://www.kimlaubecoshop.com/index....WPROD&ProdID=1 |

hey Chrissy! Do you think these clippers would be good on morgan's cotton coat? Or can you maybe suggest something alittle cheaper? i just want to keep her in a puppy cut from now on because her coat is ridiculous. what blade should i use to cut her down? |

The mens mustach clipper is nice but doesn't hold the blade sharpness or doesn't do the precision/sharp needed for ears. |

I may have to look into one of them. I'm constantly cooling down the Andis too, so I don't think there would be much difference there. I'd love to have one of those jobbers that are vacume clippers...but, very pricey. YTCA was raffling off one of them a year or so ago. I'd have loved to have won it. |
Mary, (and others who do their own grooming), Can you take some pictures sometime of how you clip the hair around the anus and around the toes. I'd also like to see how to do the ears. I've never done it before, so I'll be a little nervous. Or if you would allow me to come over sometime to watch when you groom yours... :) Misty |

I never clip around the anus....I use baby manicure scissors to clip. Now keep in mind, since my dogs are show dogs, I've learned to just go around the anus, taking just enough hair to be sanitary. I don't clip around the toes, only use clippers on the foot pads, if you purchased the Peanut, believe me they are completely safe. Now if you mean making the rounded foot. Here's the way I learned, but I started when they were very young puppies, when they were very, very sleepy and tired, I'd turn them on their backs, gently comb the hair up towards the foot and with manicure scissors, I'd just trim in a circle. Just remember be kind to yourself, you are going to screw up, but the hair grows back, very, very quickly. So just keep on practicing. |

Now a kennel I groomed at a while back had the clipper vac and know what we did with it there (the owner lived far away from the kennel to not inforce the shop rules lol) we used it to suck up the hair on our tables so we didnt have to lug the vacuum over to clean it up lol The newer clipper vac models are supposed to be lighter and more user friendly. I know a grooming chat group I belong to is talking about the Laube Ivac and shes having nothing but trouble with the thing |

I would really like to learn how to groom Peanut. The last time at the groomers he came home with fleas. I never had a problem with fleas, was treating him the natural way with lavender. I finally put him on frontline, but I refuse to have him go back and have fleas again. Chrissy, Do you do grooming? I live in Sewell, so I am not that far from you. |
ok just went to petedge to check out clippers and there are about 15 different kinds of Andis clippers..... why can't this be easy? LOL OK groomers, can one of you point to which ones i should get. I trust you. :D http://grooming.petedge.com/catalog/...CategoryId=340 |
