Sounds to me like you found a jewel of a groomer, and I think 20% is not only a fair but also a generous tip. I usually do a little extra at times, especially during the holidays. I love and trust my groomer immensely.

It costs $70 to have them both groomed and we tip 15 to 20 dollars

I got tired of paying the groomer and tipping too, so I quit going and now groom all the dogs myself. :D I may take one in in the future, but as a rule, they're done at home. I tip myself by buying more things for my dogs.:yelrotflm

I was grooming mine for awhile too but I never got that good. I still took them to a groomer for nails and anals, which I don't want to do. Also I only started grooming them because one of them fell off of a grooming table once.

But, I often wanted to take them to doggy camp or daycare about once a week so they could interact and play with other pups in a supervised situation without mom and dad. It would cost about $55 for both for a few hours. I thought that was kind of expensive. So I kind of figure I am getting the best of both worlds. They are getting a morning or afternoon play time with other pups and a complete grooming thrown in for good measure. I love it.

The part that I like most about this boutique/groom shop is that they are not in cages at any time. The shop is beautiful with beautiful flooring and little white fences. It is just a great place to leave your pup. I know the price is kind of high but I don't mind paying it to leave them here. I knew when I got them that the cost of grooming was part of being owned by Yorkies so that's ok.

I'm sorry, call me cruel, but I don't tip! This is there job, I pay them $60 every 6 weeks to groom my girls and I feel that that is enough.

It costs me $100 for grooming and I always tip Kim the groomer $20. I don't see it as any different than tipping my hairdresser (not that I get groomed as often as the monkeys, haha)!

It is always wonderful when you find a good groomer...one that you and the babies like!

My groomer only charges $15 or $20 (depending on what is done) - yes, that is super cheap isn't it....we have known her for years though and, shhh, I think we get a good discount. Anyway, I always tip $5 or during the holidays (because she always gets us in no matter what), I tip more.

I have only tipped a few times for my hair stylist, I just feel that this is what they have chosen to do as a career, why should I have to tip them for doing there job?

When I custom make things for people, I'm doing a service and I don't get tipped.

I just have a hard time dealing with the whole tipping thing.

I will say I do tip my waitress, but only cause she is only making about $2.15 a hour here in Indiana

I use to tip until I started taking all 3. She charges anywhere from $150 to $170 for all 3. I thought that was enough every 6 to 8 weeks. It must be because she is closing her business & only taking a third of her business to her home. She asked me if I wanted to continue.

That's so cute that they give a report card! I love that! I remember awhile back, my dh and I went out of town right after we'd moved here, and I had to find a place to board my parrots. I found a really nice animal "spa" place nearby and they had the large cages and everything.....and it was SO inexpenisive to boot....I took all their food and toys of course. Anyway, the next time I wanted to board them they had raised the fee like about 500%, LOL...I have a feeling if they gave report cards, my birds would have gotten not such a good one:rolleyes:

I usually tip 15%, but should really tip 20 I think, b/c they do an excellent job and I have Max cut really short which takes them more time I think. Guess I'll have to increase that next time!

I tip the girl who grooms my dog mainly b/c I go to a place where there are several people working for the owner, and I don't have a clue what each of them makes or how they are paid, but I just get the feeling that they probably work on a dog by dog basis? I do think they charge enough actually, but I know she doesn't get all that money.

My hairdresser owns his own shop and I know most people do tip him, but he told me not to tip him b/c I'm in there with a standing appointment every 3 weeks. If it weren't for that, I WOULD tip him.

I used to go to a guy who billed himself as the "Guru to the Glamorous"....and he charged me a LOT for the color and cut, but on top of that, he charged me $50 for my hair to be blown dry (it's LONG and straight). So if I didn't want to walk out of the salon with wet, stringy hair, I had to pay another $50....AND HE didnt' even do my color..he had a "colorist" who did it, so I was expected to tip HIM too.....go figure.....the owner's driving a Rolls Royce; that should have told me SOMETHING right there, LOL:mad:

I am so glad someone posted this b/c I was so unsure if I was supposed to tip or not. i take Gizzie to the doggie day spa and the lady who owns it also does the work. the first time I had her groomed I was wondering if I was supposed to tip her so I tipped her $10 and she looked shocked so I figured that was either really good or really bad! so now I tip her every other time. Not trying to sound cheap but I didnt know

My last trip for all :aimeeyork :aimeeyork :aimeeyork was $65. That was for the standard bathing and extras plus puppy cuts on all three. I gave her $80. She is a wonderful groomer and also does not cage them. When i leave she locks the door and lets them roam around.
